For today’s learning we have…

RWI

Remember to practise your sounds daily. RWI will be holding daily virtual lessons for children to practise their sounds:

Set 1 sounds at 9:30am

Set 2 sounds at 10:00am

Set 3 sounds at 10:30am

They have updated these lessons to include word time for set 1 speed sounds and spelling for set 2 and 3.

There is also “Storytime with Nick” three times a week (Mon, Wed & Fri at 2pm) and some poems that your child can learn and perform.

SPaG

I have attached a Grammar Hammer. The children are used to seeing these in the classroom. It covers a variety of areas that we have been learning about on our SPaG mats.

Literacy

This week we are going to read and watch another story about Anansi. These stories come from Africa. Look on a map to see if you can find Africa quickly.

Remember the stories about Anansi are folktales. They were not written down but were told to people. This was how the stories were spread and became well known. These stories were told by people to pass on important information and lessons that could be learnt by children and anyone else listening to them.

Before half term you watched the story of why Anansi has eight, long legs. Today I would like you to watch the story of Anansi and the Melon.

When you have watched Anansi and the Melon, I would like you to design a book front cover for your favourite story. The front cover needs to be bright and colourful with the title on. It needs to be eye catching so people will want to pick up the book and read it.

When you have done this, I would like you to write a few sentences telling me why it was your favourite Anansi story.

I have attached both stories for you to watch first.

Maths

This morning we have a maths warm up to get our brains working, try to complete this independently.

G/Y/R/O groups:

Today we are going to be learning about coins. We have a game to play first… https://natwest.mymoneysense.com/students/students-5-8/spot-the-coins/

Can you find the cons in the pictures and drag them in to the boxes? After this I have attached a worksheet where you have to match the coin to the amount and then count coins carefully. Remember that if there are 2 5p coins you have to do 5p + 5p = 10p.

Remember to practise your times tables with Times Tables Rock Stars.

Blue group:

Your learning today is putting the months of the year in order and matching pictures to the months. Listen to this song first.

DT

Today we are going to be learning about vehicles. Look at the power point first to learn about the different parts of a vehicle, what they are called and what they do. Then design your own vehicle using the worksheet and then use the instructions to build one. I can’t wait to see your vehicle!
