Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Wednesday

Reading

Today, you will be reading Chapter 17, pages 76-80 of our book Fantastic Mr Fox. Your written task today is to answer some comprehension questions. You only have to answer the questions that have been set for your group.

The text is attached below along with the Reciprocal Reading PowerPoint that you can follow as you read the pages.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Literacy

Today, you will be writing the main events as part of your retell.

The main events include:

  • Mr Fox coming up with a plan.
  • Leaving Mrs Fox and digging with the children to Boggis’ Chicken house 1 and taking 3 chickens.
  • Meeting badger.
  • Digging to Bunce’s Storehouse and taking bacon, geese, ducks and hams.
  • Digging to Bean’s Cider Cellar, meeting rat and taking 2 containers of cider.

To make this exciting for the reader, you could:

  • Include exciting, descriptive vocabulary.
  • Include some speech between characters, punctuated correctly.
  • Use fronted adverbials at the start of sentences that show where, when and how. E.g.

In the deep, damp hole, …

One gloomy evening, …

Sneakily, …

  • The characters’ thoughts and feelings (make them exciting, not ‘happy’ or ‘sad’)

Enjoy writing and be sure to send me your opening to our class email, I am looking forward to reading them.

Maths

Today, you are going to be learning how to accurately complete the drawing of a symmetric figure.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class:

Sum4.10.4 - Complete a symmetric figure on Vimeo

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheets.

Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

PSHE

Today, you are going to be learning about looking after your wellbeing. Attached is a PowerPoint that you can read through with a grown up. After you have read through this. Have a go at the 2 attached sheets, you can print them out or record your work on paper. Your network is the people around you that you trust and that care for you.
