Wednesday 27th January

It's Wonderful Wednesday!

We're halfway through our week. Can you tell us anything that you have learnt so far?

As always, let's have a look at some of the fantastic work that you sent us yesterday before we start:

Please drop us an email to carle@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk - we love to see pictures of your fantastic learning!

Get Moving!

RML:

Don't forget to join in with your phonics lessons today! Access them at this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

What sounds have you learnt so far this week? Can you think of a word that begins with each of them?

Literacy:

Over this week we have been learning about beanstalks, do you know what grows on a beanstalk?

That’s right! Beans! But not baked beans that have that tomato sauce on them and come in a tin, the beans that grow on beanstalks are called green beans, they look like this:

Have you seen them before? Have you eaten them before? For the rest of this week you are going to become designers! I want you to design your own meal using these green beans. Today you are going to research information for your design. I want you to either use Google or ask your grown up or other people in your household. You are finding out what meals include green beans. Using the attached research sheet I want you to draw these different meals and label them using your Fred fingers to spell words. Here is one that I researched:

I can’t wait to see what meals you find!

Maths:

Today, we are going to practice some learning that we are already fantastic at. We are going to have a practice of ‘one more’ and ‘one less’

At school, we have only practiced one more and one less up to five. Today, we are going to include our brand-new numbers – 6,7 and 8!

Have a look at today's video to find out what our activity is going to be today: https://greenfield-primary-school.primarysite.media/

For our activity today, we would like you make your own toy box/basket. It needs to have up to 8 toys in it. As always, please adapt the activity to suit your child (e.g. only go up to 3 toys if your child needs to practice numbers to 3).

Just like Kipper, we would like your grownup to put some of the toys in the box (whilst you’ve got your eyes closed). How many toys are in the box? How many toys would you have if you added one more? How many would you have if you had one less? Add or remove a toy to check if you were right!

Extra challenge:

For an extra challenge, can you practice saying one more/one less of numbers to 8 without using the objects to help you?

Personal, Social, Emotional Development:

In Jasper’s Beanstalk, Jasper does lots of things to look after his bean and keep it healthy (e.g. water it, rake it). For our PSED learning today, we are going to have a think about how we can look after ourselves. Have a look at the PowerPoint below to find out more:

Today, we would like you to draw an outline of yourself, like the one below. Then we’d like you to fill it with things that you can do, or use, to look after yourself. You could include hobbies that make you happy, food that makes you feel good, sporty activities that you enjoy – anything you want. Please send what you create to our class email!

We hope that you enjoyed your learning today Reception - please let us know how you got on, and we'll see you tomorrow.
