Literacy

Today, you will be learning how to write and what features are included in a newspaper. Newspaper reports are an example of a recount of an event.

This week’s writing will be a newspaper report recount of the events in Chapter 4 of the Iron Man.

Watch this video that will teach you how to write a newspaper report and what features it should include. (Watch until 3 minutes 12 seconds)

Then, look at the attachment below that explains your task dependent on your literacy/writing group. Your example newspaper reports and answers are also attached below.

Maths

Green - Today, you are going to continue to learn a written method to help you with your division. Today, we are going to focus on 3 digit numbers.

Here is the link to the video which uses 3 digits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7PelKmv-jI

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Answer as many as you can. As this is a new skill you will all have the same questions however you may want to as an adult for help with some. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

I have also attached a sheet where you need to set out and answer the questions using the bus stop method.

PSHE

It is really important to build good relationships. We spend lots of time with other people at school and some of them become our friends. Remember to treat everyone with respect.

Being a good friend and knowing what a good friend looks like is important. Below is a short clip from the film ‘Up’. This part of the film talks about making friends and friend characteristics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTDP-A--BhE

Attached is also a PowerPoint that you can work through to talk about what makes a good friend.

  • What do you look for in a friend?
  • Why are your friends your friends?
  • What do you like about them?

Complete the activity attached ‘What I Want in a Friend.’

I have also attached some scenarios that you may look at to see how you can be a good friend to this person.
