Wednesday 24th June 2020

Good Morning

It is Wonderful Wednesday today! I hope you have a lovely day and can get out and enjoy some sunshine before/after your home learning today!

Remember you can email me! I will look forward to reading them when I get home from school!

Reciprocal Reading

Today, we are going to begin reading chapter 8 of Nim’s Island.

Your Task

Once you have read today’s pages and I would like you to make a prediction. Predict what you think might happen next? What do you think Nim will do after reading the email from Alex?

Literacy

Today, you are going to think about your story and how the characters are going to resolve the problem that you thought about yesterday. What might the characters do to solve the problem? Who might help them? What might they need to get to help solve the problem? Make notes and write key words to remember your ideas for your big write on Friday.

Maths

Red, Orange, Yellow and Green: You have now completed all of your learning for Year 3 maths, which means that we can revise over some of the trickier concepts and complete some quizzes. We are going to start with Number and Place Value. Today I have given you 2 sheets that will give you a chance to jog your memory of this topic. Tomorrow I will give you a quiz. Remember, this is all learning that we have covered in class so you should understand the concepts. If you don’t have a printer, write the answers on a piece of paper with the question number in the margin.

Blue 2: Today you will be learning to measure mass in kilograms (kg). Remember, heavier means more kg and lighter means less kg. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 1: Today you will be learning to add more. Remember to hold the first number in your head and count on. You should be able to do this completely independently (an adult may need to read the questions for you). Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

RE

Today’s Question: Who did Jesus say he was?

If you were to symbolize yourself, what would you be?

See examples: If I was an animal/car/colour/an item of clothing/ kind of food/ a place on earth… I'd be…...because… (Discuss this with an adult).

Look at the image below. You will see a range of pictures and next to them there are some ‘I am’ statements...

Discuss the following questions for each object you see:

  • What is this object?

  • What does it / he / she do?

  • Why might it / he / she be important?

Now talk about the symbols in the language.  Jesus and the seven symbols he chose for himself.  What do they think Jesus was trying to say about himself? See if you can explain the meaning of the ‘I am’ sayings using words and pictures.

Your main task is to create some symbolic ‘I am…’s for yourselves. Below there is a template that you may use. It is an outline of a person divided into 7 sections.  You are to create an image, draw a picture for one or all of the ‘I am…’ sayings inside this outline and explain what it means.
