Hello. It is Wednesday today, that means we are half way through the week! We made it halfway and we can make it to the end of our first week! Thank you for your emails to share the work that is being completed at home. Keep up the great work! You are all doing a great job!
If you haven't contacted me yet, please do so on our class email (kingsmith@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk).
Today, we are going to look at the picture and make some predictions about this story.
Look at the picture
*Where is the boy?
*What is he wearing?
*Who is grabbing him?
I would like you to write a few sentences to answer these questions.
Red, Orange, Yellow and Green - Today you will be learning to find equivalent fractions and you will be using a number line. Remember the word equivalent means equal or the same. Follow this link (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/) to a video that should explain things clearly for you. Click ‘Summer Term - Week 1’ > ‘Lesson 1’ and watch the video. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).
Blue 2 - Today you will be learning to make equal groups by sharing. When you share into groups, you are dividing. Remember, if the groups are equal, there must be the same amount in each group. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).
Blue 1 - Today you will be learning to find a quarter of a shape. When you find a quarter, you halve the shape once and then halve it again. A quarter is 1 out of 4 sections of the shape. The sections must all be equal. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).
For today’s grammar task, I have set you a quiz on SPaG.com. The quiz is based on an element of SPaG that we have already covered in class. You have already been sent your login credentials for SPaG.com via our class email so that you are able to access the quiz.

For today’s spelling task, I would like you to have a look at the powerpoint attached below and learn/read through the spelling rules for these three words - they’re, their and there. These are words that are often used incorrectly in our writing so I would like us to recap and remember how each one should be used.
Once you have read the powerpoint, please look at activity sheets and fill in the correct homophone for each sentence.
Today I would like you to practise spelling some of your common exception words. Below are the words I would like you to practise, according to your group. I would like you to practise spelling these
words using the pyramid technique, which is where you add another letter each time that you write the word. Attached is an example. This repeated practise of spelling the words helps you remember the pattern of letters.
Challenge - use 3 of these words in sentences.
ROYG Words - exercise, accidentally, address, extreme, February, caught
