Literacy

Today we would like you to write a simple story about the hungry caterpillar. This time can you focus on writing a beginning, middle and end? How does the story start, what does he do next? What happens to the caterpillar at the end of the story?

Does each sentence make sense? Have you used your Fred fingers to spell words? Have you got finger spaces between your words? Are your letters well formed? Have you got a full stop at the end of each sentence?

Maths

Lets start our maths learning off by recapping what 2D shapes we have learnt. Can you find any shapes in your house? What shapes did you find? Can you name them? How many corners do they have? How many sides do they have?

How far did you get counting backwards yesterday? We had some amazing videos of children thank you! Can you count backwards from 40? Use your number line to help you so you know what each number looks like? Think you can count backwards from a bigger number? Have a go and let us know what you got to.

Yesterday you completed patterns online using our fun game. Today we would like you to complete the missing patterns on the sheet attached. Can you complete the colour patterns on the caterpillars. Remember to say the pattern out loud to help you remember it. Next you have a fruit pattern activity to complete. Do exactly the same thing and say the names of the fruits out loud. Can you make your own colour or picture pattern?

Lets finish off our maths by working on what we looked at yesterday, estimating. This is a new skill you are learning so it is important to keep going over this skill. Estimate how many objects you can see. Estimating is guessing how many objects you have without counting them. Once you have estimated how many objects you have, count and see if you were close.

Topic

Lets do some craft work. Butterfly's are beautiful creatures and they have so many different colours and patterns on their wings. We would like you to create your own beautiful butterfly. Just like yesterday you can use whatever resources  you have in your home. Below is an idea that we have found but feel free to make your butterfly your own.

What do you know about butterflies? Can you make a fact sheet to go with your craft?

Remember to use your check list we use in class.

Capital letters

Finger spaces

Fred fingers

Full stops

Check your work.
