Year 2 Reading

For your reading learning today, you are going to be using the text to fill in the gap.

Use your ninja eyes to find the sentence with the gap in the text so you can choose the correct answer.

Maths

Year 1

Today we are carrying on looking at numbers to 50. We will practise counting forwards and backwards from different start numbers.

If I start at 28 and count forwards, what numbers will I say?

28, 29. 30, 31, 32, 33

If I start at 28 and count backwards, what numbers will I say?

28, 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, 22

Watch the video to practise your learning. You need your worksheet ready before you watch the video.

For the warm up on the maths video you need a 0 - 50 chart. You can use the one on the video and tell a grown up the answers or you can use the one I have attached and colour the correct number in. You will also need it to complete some of the challenges on the video.

Year 2

For your learning today, you are going to practise what you learnt yesterday.

What is a pictogram? Do you remember?

As you are putting your learning into practise there are no new learning videos today but you can relook at yesterday’s learning videos if you want to refresh your memory.
Here are the two links to your learning videos from yesterday:

https://vimeo.com/501672753

https://vimeo.com/501673699

You do not have to watch these again if you are feeling confident, but it might be good if you are still feeling a little unsure on how to draw a pictogram.

Blue group

Today we are going to look at numbers to 20 and position them on a number line. You will need to say why the numbers go in a position. You will need to use words like:

before, after, less than, more than, between

Look at the number line.

Find number 12.

12 comes after 11.

12 is more than 11.

12 comes between 11 and 13.

I would like you to watch the video and then complete the independent activity mentioned on the video. You will need a pencil and a piece of paper for this lesson because you are going to draw your very own number line. You will then use this number line to answer some questions. Don’t forget to try the quiz after the video to test your learning.

Literacy

Today we are going to plan a story based on Officer Pugh. Let’s look at what happened to him. Watch the video first. Look carefully to see:

  • Where was Officer Pugh at the start of the story.
  • What did he find out?
  • Where did he go?
  • What happened to him?
  • What did Officer Pugh do?
  • How did he catch the burglars?
  • What did officer Pugh and the officers do at the end of the story?

'Cops and Robbers' story by Janet & Allan Ahlberg. Narrated by Melody Pugh

Now you have that information I would like you to plan the story out.

Year 1 and 2 – I would like you to look at the pictures and put them in order to tell Officer Pugh’s story. If you do not have a printer, look at the pictures and tell a grown up the order. You could draw your own pictures to tell the story.

When you have finished try telling a grown up the story just using the pictures you have ordered.

Do not lose the pictures as they will help you tomorrow.

Blue group: Today you are going to start writing your story using who, what doing, what colourful sentences.

Look at picture 1 on the sheet.

Blue group: Today you are going to start writing your story using who, what doing, what colourful sentences.

Look at picture 1 on the sheet.

Look to see who is in the picture. – Officer Pugh

What are they doing? looking

To what? the map

So, I could write Officer Pugh is looking at the map.

Don’t forget a capital letter to start your sentence and a full stop at the end of the sentence.

Don’t forget the little words!

Now it is your turn to have a go at wring about the first 3 pictures.

D&T

For this DT lesson you will be using the Oak Academy learning video and activity to learn about and investigate the properties of everyday materials.

Do you know what a material is?

Can you name any materials?

A material is what something is made from. Materials have different properties. Take a look at this material word mat. Did you know some of these materials and key words?

In this lesson, we will investigate the properties of everyday materials. We will be recording all of the different materials we know and can find around our house. We will test these materials to see if they can bend, twist, stretch and squash.

You only need some paper and a pencil to complete this learning!

We are starting from lesson 3 as we have done a lot of lesson 1 & 2 in school already!

Click this link https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-investigate-the-properties-of-everyday-materials-74wpct to watch the learning video and join in with the different activities as you go along.

I have attached the worksheet below too so that you can have it before you start the lesson.
