They have updated these lessons to include word time for set 1 speed sounds and spelling for set 2 and 3. There is also “Storytime with Nick” three times a week and some poems that your child can learn and perform.

Literacy

What is a letter? Who do you write letters to? Have you written a letter before?

Can you write a letter? You could write to Handa explaining what happened to the fruit she placed in her basket. You could write a letter to Handa asking what it is like where she lives.

Who else could you write a letter to?

Does each sentence make sense? Have you used your Fred fingers to spell words? Have you got finger spaces between your words? Are your letters well formed? Have you got a full stop at the end of each sentence? Is your writing clear and readable?

Maths

Good morning children, let's get our maths brains warmed up by using a 100 number square on your phone, laptop, or you can print it out. Point to each number and count as far as you can go.

Today's learning it outdoors and its all about doubling. Attached is a numicon resource to help you with this activity and an additional doubling numicon activity if you wish to use it. Print two copies of the document and hide one set around the garden or the house and ask the children to find the matching double. Remember to encourage the langauge  'Double __ is __'.

Lets finish off our maths lesson by using our 100 number square. Give the children a number and ask them to find it on the number square, recognising numbers to 20 is an important skill for children to learn in recepetion but challenging them to recognising other numbers will prepare them for next academic year.

Topic

Today we would like you to create a basket for Handa to carry her fruit. This can be as creative as you wish, it can be 2D or 3D. This task is led by you so look around your home see what you have and make what you can. You might use sticks, string, weaving paper, cardboard, an old cereal box. If you have some fruit why not put it in and take a picture for us to see.
