Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Today, you will continue reading Chapter 3 of ‘The Iron Man’. Today’s reading pages are 31 (When the farmers) – 32 (follow us) (between the blue stars).

Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The chapter is attached below.

R – Questions- Start from 1 and work through.

O - Questions Start from 3.

Y/G Questions- Start from 5.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Today in Literacy, we are going to learn about letter writing and the features of a letter. Although we have written letters in the past, the audience is different therefore it is important that we recap.

We will be writing a letter of apology from the point of view of the Iron Man to the farmers.

First, read through the PowerPoint that has been attached and familiarise yourself with the features you will need to include in your letter. Then, your task is to identify these features in the attached letter.

Green - Work through the PowerPoint with a grown up and then identify the features independently.

ROY - Work through the PowerPoint with a grown up and then have a go at identifying the features independently. Leave any you get stuck with to try with an adult.

Today, you are recapping previous learning to divide 2 digits by 1 digit.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class:

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else you do not need to write anything down.

Green/Yellow- Start from question 4 and work your way through just like we do in Reciprocal Reading.

Orange/Red- Start from question 1 and work through to questions 4. You can carry on if you wish to.

Mental Maths

Today, I would like you to practise your times tables as this is something we need to be more fluent in, your times tables should be on the tips of your tongues.

First, you need to watch the video that I have attached for your group. Learning through song is a good way to help you memorise and become more familiar with your tables. Try to rehearse the song a few times and memorise it.

After that, I would like you to access daily 10, I have linked this below for your group. Have a go at completing the tables in 7 seconds and then try 5 seconds when you become more confident.
