Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Wednesday

Reading

Today I would like you to look at the front cover and blurb of our new book. I would also like you to read pages 1, 2 and 3. There are 2 PowerPoints attached that I would like you to work through, which means there will be two written tasks for you to complete. Attached is a picture of the front cover and blurb for PowerPoint 1 and then a copy of Chapter 1 of the book for PowerPoint 2. Remember to only read to page 3 today.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Please work through the power points provided, on each power point one of the slides will say 'written task'. Please record these answers. The pages we will focus on each day are on the first slide of each power point. The children have followed this pattern in reading daily so should hopefully be aware of what is expected. Once the children have finished, they could re read the pages for that day out loud to an adult concentrating on fluency and expression.

Maths

Today you will be practising column addition and subtraction. You have already learnt how to use column addition and subtraction but I have also attached a link to a YouTube video that shows you how to use these methods too!

Attached are your questions for you to complete. There is also a document that contains the answers to all the questions so that you are able to mark your own answers afterwards.

A challenge has been set for you, can you work out the missing numbers?

Literacy

This week, we are going to write a character description of the Iron Man. A character description must include interesting adjectives (describing words) and a rage of different sentence types.

Today, I would like you to read through pages 1-3 of our book again and use the picture I have attached. Your task is to mind map some powerful describing words that you can use when describing the Iron Man’s appearance and personality. You can use an online thesaurus to help you improve your adjectives and make them more interesting for the reader.

RE

In RE this week the children will be learning about where Islam was founded and who founded the Muslim faith.

Please use the power point provided below to work through and answer the questions on the sheet. There is also an optional activity if you wish to print it out and make the jigsaw.
