Year 1 – Yesterday we counted in 10s. Today we are going to count in 5s. Join in with the counting in 5s song.

Look at the hundred square.

What pattern do you notice?

Yes, all the numbers end in a 5 or a 0.

5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40,45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100.

They are are all multiples of 5.

See if you can borrow some 5p coins. Can you count in 5s to find the total of a group of 5ps.

Can you use pasta or Lego bricks and group them into 5s. Count in 5s to see how many you have altogether?

Now complete your learning.

Year 2 – Today we are going to reinforce our knowledge about equal groups to help us with our multiplication and division learning.

Your activity today is to spot whether or not groups are equal and to add to groups when they are not equal.

Blue group – Today I want to put your learning to the test and see if you can identify 1 more and 1 less than a number.

Literacy

Today you are going to write your diary entry. You will need your notes from yesterday.

Look at your plan and write about each part of your plan.

Remember, you are pretending to be Plop so you need to use the words I, me or my.

Don’t forget that you need to write in sentences. Sentences need to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. You can write longer sentences using conjunctions. Year 1 children can use and to write longer sentences. Year 2 can use and, but, because and when to write longer sentences. As well as telling your diary what happened, don’t forget to tell your diary how you felt.

Dear Diary

Today my mummy told me to go and find out more about the dark because I still do not like it at all! I saw a tall man standing in the field quite close to my tree so I went to see him. I made him jump when I landed next to him.
