Greenfield Primary School

Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Wednesday

Good morning.

Are you ready for another day of learning? Let’s go!

I enjoy seeing all your learning and telling me all your news so don’t forget you can send me your learning on the class email or write just to say hello!

Reading

Today I would like you to find a book at home to read to a grown up. It could be a fiction book, a non-fiction book or a poetry book. You could even send a video of you reading part of the book to me!

Maths

Year 1: This morning we have a maths warm up to get our brains working, try to complete this independently.

Today we are going to be ordering numbers. Like yesterday, try and do this in your head by looking at the tens first then the units but if you need to, you could use a 100 square and first circle the numbers you are going to order and then look at which number is first on the 100 square this is the smallest.

Blue group:

Your learning today is about counting pennies. Look at the power point first and count the pennies carefully. Now click on the worksheet below and count the pennies carefully in the purse.

Year 2: For the rest of the week, you can complete some summer Maths activities. This would be similar to what we may have done if you were in school!

I hope you enjoy the activities!

Today you have two different learning activities.
For the first one you will be using your place value knowledge to count objects and write the number of objects in numerals and words.

For your second learning activity you will practise using the 4 operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to crack the codes to reveal the summer themed words! Make sure you look closely to see which operation is being used!

Literacy

Last week we looked at the short film Baboon on the Moon. This week we are going to complete our work on this.

Today you are going to write and tell people about the Moonshine Machine. We are going to write an explanation. Have a look at the example: How a washing machine works.

It has a labelled diagram and then sentences to say why we have a washing machine and explaining what each of the different parts do.

We have found out that Baboon’s job is to light up the moon. Can you remember what he uses to do this? Watch the film to find out and see if you are right. As you watch, look carefully at the machine that Baboon has to use.

Why does he need the machine?

What parts does the machine have?

What does each part do?

Now you are going to write and tell people about it.

Year 2 – I would like you to draw a picture of the machine and label it. Write and tell me about each part.

Year 1 - I have attached a diagram of the machine. I would like you to label the machine then write and tell me about each part.

DT

This week we are going to design and make a fairy / gnome house. I have attached a power point explaining the step by step instructions.

First you need to design the house you want to make, what colour will it be? What will the door look like? How many windows will it have?

I can’t wait to see your fairy / gnome houses
