Literacy

Today we are story writing about what animal you would have on your boat! Can you write at about at least one animal joining the boat?

Here is ours …

Next I met an orange and black tiger with sharp claws. "Can I come on the boat" said the tiger. Yes but do not scratch the animals!

Does each sentence make sense? Have you used your Fred fingers to spell words? Have you got finger spaces between your words? Are your letters well formed? Have you got a full stop at the end of each sentence? Is your writing clear and readable?

Don’t forget to make sure the letters you write are clear. Have you remembered your finger spaces between each word? Our aim is that everyone can read our fabulous writing so make sure it’s readable.

Maths

This week in maths we would like you to start off by singing out 3D shape song, watch and join in if you can.

Today in maths we are going to use a number line to work out our subtraction. Read the number sentence for example (on the sheet) 9-3=. Find 9 on the number line and jump back 3, what number did you land on? Check your answer by leaving 3 sweets uncoloured, how many sweets are coloured in?

Let’s finish off maths by playing paint the square, use the number square appropriate for your child and call out a number and colour for example, colour in 12 using red. This will help with children’s number recognition.

Topic

Today in topic we are going to carry on making our moving picture. Get our sea picture from yesterday and either print the picture of the boat attached or you can draw a simple version. Colour and cut the boat out. On the back of the sea picture in the middle draw a small slip that the lollypop stick will fit in and move slightly to the left and right and cut it using scissors (this bit may be for adults). Then from the back put the lollypop stick through the picture- if your cut is too small then take the lollypop stick back out and make it a big longer. Turn your picture round and attach your boat to the top. Using the lollypop stick at the back you should be able to move the boat across your sea picture.
