Greenfield Primary School

Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Wednesday 1st April

Maths

Using the skills that you have been working on this week, today you will be finding change. Use jumping up on a number line to subtract the amount you spend from the total amount that you have. Let me know if you have any issues finding the change. Use the Learning Reminders if you are finding it tricky.

I'd like you to practice calculating with money today. We use the pound sign and pence sign when writing amounts of money but we never use both together. Use the Learning Reminders to recap amounts of money, what they look like in coins and written in amounts. Then try to order different amounts of money from least to greatest.

After that, you will be adding small amounts of money to other given amounts. Let me know if you need any help or advice when doing this.

Literacy

Read the poem called How the Bumble-Bee got his Stripes. Try reading it out loud with expression. Recap features of poems using the Narrative Poem Features text. Try to identify these features in the Bumble-Bee poem.

Recap what noun phrases are. Write two sentences about each animal character from the poem and use a noun phrase in each sentence. If you're unsure, use the Revision Card and Examples to see how you could do this.

Blue

Recap the stories that you have listened to this week. The links are on the document for The Whales' Song and Fox. Think carefully about each story and complete the blank boxes on the Story Comparison Table.

Pick your favourite of the two stories. Write about why you like it the best on My Favourite Story. Explain what happens in the story and explain why you like it. Give at least three reasons why. Use the ideas on Reasons to help you get started.

Geography

Today, I would like you to use a blank map of the Americas and label at least 10 countries on it. Include North, South and Central American countries. If you don't have a printer, you could draw or sketch a map of the Americas and use that instead. I've attached some examples at the bottom.
