Hello Dahl class, I hope you're all having a lovely week so far! I have now sent out emails to you all regarding our Zoom meeting at 12pm on Friday. If you have not received the email, please let me know via our class email address.

Enjoy today's activities

Today we are going to continue reading chapter 3 of our story ‘The Legend of Captain Crow’s Teeth.’

Read up to page 9 where it says “Nope. Some people need to hear things twice.”

Prediction - Why do you think Mum has said that? What do you think she means?

I think that a Mum said that some people need to hear things twice because ____________. I think this because…________________.

Now read the rest of the pages.

Maths

ROYG - Today you will be learning how to find the duration. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. B2 - Today you will be learning about non-unit fractions. A non-unit fraction is a fraction where the numerator (the number on the top half of the fraction) is greater than 1. For example, 3/4 is a non-unit fraction, because three is the numerator and it is bigger than 1. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

B1 - Today you will be learning to compare numbers by looking at the tens and ones. You need to try to use the language ‘more than’, ‘less than’, ‘bigger’, ‘smaller’, ‘equal’. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Geography

Today, the first job we are going to do is recap our knowledge of naming and locating the seven continents and the five oceans of the world. Below there is a PowerPoint for you to go through for the names of continents and one for the oceans. Read through this carefully first and then complete the activity sheets for both these PowerPoints.

After this, our new learning for today is all about the North Pole/South Pole/Equator line/Hemispheres of the world. You have a PowerPoint to read through carefully and then you have a labelling activity sheet to complete.
