Reciprocal Reading

Today, you will be continuing to look at a range of texts. Today’s text is called ‘Birds’.

Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The text is attached below.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal

Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Literacy

This week, you are going to write your own version of the story of The Iron Man. You will create your own character, setting and storyline based on the events in The Iron Man.

Today, you are going to design your own character instead of the Iron Man, that will be the main character and focus of your new version of the story.

First, you must draw your character and colour them in. Then, label the materials/objects that make up your character. Use a thesaurus to find interesting adjectives that describe your characters personality and appearance. Here is a link to an online thesaurus: https://www.thesaurus.com/

These adjectives can be used in your story at the end of the week when you introduce your main character.

Maths

Green - Today, you are going to continue learning about equivalent fractions.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/504801539

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else, you do not need to write anything down.

ROY - Today, you are going to be learning to make a half.

In the fraction ½, the number 2 is the denominator (bottom number) because when an object/shape/amount is split in half, there are 2 equal parts.

Have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Blue - Today, you are going to be learning to count in 2’s.

Geography

Today in Geography, we will be looking at the water cycle. The water cycle is a physical process that happens on the surface of the Earth and in the Earth's atmosphere.

The water cycle describes the movement of water on the surface and in the atmosphere of the Earth. It is a continuous process that is made up of five steps.

We will look at each step individually on the attached PowerPoint. Your task is on the final slide according to your group.
