  •  Reading - Wednesday 10.3.21

Read through the instructions - they will guide you through the activities you are going to do when you have read today’s pages (Chapter 2 -p9-13)

Writing:

Yesterday we learned how to describe a setting.

Now that we have read more of Beauty and the Beast, we are going to use what we learned yesterday to help us describe a setting from the story using our senses.  We are going to look at some pictures of the Prince’s palace and describe the scene – we will use our ideas to make a word bank. We will include exciting adjectives, powerful verbs and prepositions to tell us where something is in the palace.

Go to the Writing Resources at the end of this section and open up this document:

This week we are practising our number and place value skills. Yesterday we practised ordering and comparing numbers using these symbols: <, > and +.

Today we are going to use our number knowledge to solve some problems. Log in to Education City and complete the learn screen and activities - these will help you with the activity sheet in the resource box below.

Challenge:

What do you notice about the missing numbers?

What strategies did you use to work out what the numbers were?

Art / PSHE Activities:

Our Dreams for the Future:  Reflection and Class Discussion:

  • What are your hopes and dreams for the future?
  • What are your goals?
  • What would you like to achieve or become?
  • Are there any jobs that you think you might like to do in the future?
  • What skills or talents have you got that will help you on your journey?

This week we have been listening to the story of 'The BFG' by Roald Dahl.  In the story, the Big Friendly Giant (BFG)  shows Sophie that he is a Dream Catcher! He catches dreams and puts them into jars like the one below:

Creating a Dream Jar:

We are going to create our own Dream Jar, filling it with a chalk pattern to create the dream inside the jar.  Then, we are going to write our dreams for the future on the labels .
