Greenfield Primary School

Imagine, Believe, Succeed

WC: Monday 9th November 2020

Be sure to look out for your group for subjects when you complete the work that is set.

Here is the book that all writing and reading will be based on!

Monday

Reciprocal Reading

Today you will be reading Chapter 3. Work through the PowerPoint and complete the written task.

Grammar

Today, you will be learning to use adverb and adjective phrases. Read through the rules box and then have a go at the given activities.

Maths

Today you will be learning to spot patterns. Complete the worksheet by adding and subtracting the given amounts. Look carefully at the place value columns of the numbers and pay careful attention to any patterns.

Geography

Today you will be learning to locate mountain ranges on a map. You will need an atlas or google maps. Work through the PPT and then complete the activities on the worksheet.

Tuesday

Reciprocal Reading

Today you will need to read pages 16-19. Work through the PowerPoint and complete the given written task.

Literacy

This week you will be retelling what you have read so far from a different point of view. We are going to write from Anita's point of view. Today, you must create an 'S' Plan for the events that have happened to Anita so far.

Maths

Toda in maths you will be estimating the answer. When estimating, you don't formally work out the answer using column method. An estimate is a sensible guess. The best way to estimate is to round the number to a round number that is easy to add or subtract e.g. 198 is close to 200 or 49 is close to 50. Then complete the calculation. You can check whether it was a good estimate by using column method to carry out the calculation and see if your estimation was close.

Computing

Unfortunately, you cannot complete the computing lesson without being in school to use our software. Today I would like you to create a poster about internet safety. What is it? How can you stay safe online?

Wednesday

Reciprocal Reading

Today you will be reading pages 20-23. Follow through the PowerPoint and clarify the words as your written task using a dictionary. If you do not have a dictionary, use an online version.

Literacy

Today you will be thinking about first person pronouns, as we will be writing our story in first person, as Anita. Read through the sheet and rewrite each sentence using first person pronouns.

Maths

Today you will be learning to round to the nearest 10. Look at the number in the tens column as that is what you are rounding to. Then look at the neighbour to the right. This number will tell you whether you round up/forward or down/backward. If the ones are 5 and above and then to the following ten. If it is 4 or below then round to down to the 10 e.g. 31 rounds to 30 and 48 rounds to 50.

Catch Up

Today for catch up I would like you to log into TTRockstars and practise your given timetables. Hit 'play'! I will have a look at your scores. I want you to become fluent with these tables.

Thursday

Reciprocal Reading

Today you will be reading an information text about pollution in the ocean. Then, your written task is to answer the SATs style questions about these pages.

Literacy

Today I would like you to edit and improve the first paragraph for out story. I have had a go at writing it but I have made some mistakes and I need your help. With the paragraph are a list of improvements I expect you to make. After, this paragraph can be used as the first paragraph to your story.

Maths

Now you have learnt to round to the nearest 10. I would like you to have a go at rounding again. Round the numbers to the nearest 10 and then carry out the calculation. Were your estimates close?

RE

Today, I would like you to carry out some research into what the Puja tray is and what it is used for. Then, complete the attached activity sheet.

Friday

Reciprocal Reading

Today you will be reading a poem from this site: https://childrens.poetryarchive.org/poem/alligator-pie/. Read through the PowerPoint and complete the written task.

Writing (2hrs)

Today you will be writing your story. Use your plan and the work you have done throughout the week to make your story as interesting as possible.

PSHE

Today I would like you to think about the diverse range of people that are British. Work through the PowerPoint with a grown up and participate in discussions about the 'Big Questions'.
