Reciprocal Reading

Today, you will be continuing to look at a range of texts. Today’s text is a non-fiction information text on Sir Isaac Newton.

Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The text is attached below.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal

Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Spelling

Today you are going to practise some of your common exception word spellings. Below, there is an activity mat that will help you to use and spell your common exception words accurately. Please select your activity pack based on your group colour and work through the activities. If you don’t have a printer, that is fine – just complete the activities on paper.

Maths

Green - Today, you are going to learn about equivalent fractions. This is new learning for Year 4.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/504472462

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else, you do not need to write anything down.

ROY - Today, you are going to be learning to recognise a half.

In the fraction ½, the number 2 is the denominator (bottom number) because when an object/shape/amount is split in half, there are 2 equal parts.

Have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Blue - Today, you are going to be learning to order numbers within 50.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/503093819

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

RE

This is our final week of learning about the five pillars of Islam. The final word to add to your pillars is Hajj.  This is all about the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca. All Muslims try to make this pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime, depending on their circumstances.

Please read through the slides with a grown up and talk about the different stages. Then, try the quiz at the end and add the final word to your five pillars.

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about this as much as I’ve enjoyed explaining it to you.
