Reciprocal Reading

Today you will read the next 4 pages of the book. Your task today is to answer some comprehension questions. Remember the answer or clues will be hidden in the pages. Try to answer in full sentences.

  • What did dad build 3 more bunk beds with?

  • What did Marty suggest Captain Crow might be looking for?

  • What did Donnie want Marty to include in the story?

  • What was the name of Captain Crow’s ship?

  • What did the treasure on the top of the rocks glimmer like?

Literacy

In the pages we have read today, Marty tells us about what Duncade was like many years ago. I would like you to write a setting description of what Duncade was like using the language from the book.

First, I would like you to collect adjectives and language that you can use in your setting description and make a note of it.

Then, I would like you to use the language and the pictures I have attached in a PowerPoint, of different vocabulary from the book, to help you write your own setting description of Duncade. You must consider describing how things feel, look, sound and smell.

You can use:

  • Expanded noun phrases e.g. sharp, pointy rocks.

  • Similes (when you use the word as or like to compare when describing) e.g. as long as a giraffe’s neck, sharp like a knife.

  • Conjunctions e.g. and, so, but, however, although, because, while.

Maths

Red, Orange, Yellow and GreenToday you will be learning about hours in a day. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 2 - Today you will be learning to recognise a quarter. Remember quarters are when something is split into 4 equal parts. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 1 - Today you will be learning to describe the position of objects and shapes by recognising quarter and half turns. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Science

Today you will be learning what a plant needs to grow. I would like you to visit this link:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z9f87hv and read through the attached PowerPoint to find out what a plant needs to grow.

Then, your task is to create a poster that tells people what plants need to grow well. Attached are some examples. You could draw a flower in the middle of your page and write the information around the sides with drawings or diagrams.
