Literacy

Today we are going to use your story map to write about some of the animals that joined Mr Gumpy. We have attached our example below.

Can you remember what a sentence should start with? A capital letter! Does each sentence make sense? Have you used your Fred fingers to spell words? Have you got finger spaces between your words? Are your letters well formed? Have you got a full stop at the end of each sentence? Remember each sentence you write should have a capital letter to start and a full stop at the end.

Maths

This week in maths we would like you to start off by singing out 3D shape song, watch and join in if you can.

Today in maths we are going to look at subway pictorially. The children are to read the amount of buns and then cross the correct amount out. They then need to count how many are left once they have been crossed out from the first box. For example question 1, there are 5 buns and teddy takes 1, so cross 1 of the buns out. Count how many they have left.

Let’s finish off maths by playing paint the square, use the number square appropriate for your child and call out a number and colour for example, colour in 12 using red. This will help with children’s number recognition.

Topic

Today and tomorrow afternoon we are going to create a moving picture. Below are some pictures of each step. First we are going to take A4 or A3 paper and make it look like the sea, we have painted it using different blues and white using a sponge. You can colour, collage or paint. The whole page must be covered. Let this dry and we will continue it tomorrow- for tomorrows activity you need a lollypop stick, if you do not have this you can use a straw or a thin piece of wood.
