Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Tuesday 2nd June 2020

Reciprocal Reading

Today, we are going to continue reading our final chapter of ‘The Legend of Captain Crow’s Teeth.’ Read pages 3 and 4 below. Then, you are going to write a summary of what you have read in today’s pages. Remember that a summary is a few sentences summarising the key events.

Grammar

Today you are going to recap our learning of using an apostrophe for possession because on Friday, as part of your big write, you may need to include apostrophes as the characters are talking about Marty’s tooth.

Remember, possession means something that is someones. For example:

John's apple.

Who's apple is it? John's, so John needs an apostrophe.

There is a  PowerPoint below which I would like you to go through with an adult or independently. Once you have learnt and recapped using apostrophes for possession, find the sheet that is labelled with your literacy group and have a go at completing the sheet. You do NOT need to print the sheet if you have no printer, you can simply copy the sentences adding punctuation and correct chosen words. Please be sure to check your answers at the end of the task.

Maths

ROYG - Today you will be learning to identify vertical and horizontal lines. Attached is a picture of a horizontal (lying down) and vertical (standing up) line. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

B2 - Today you will begin learning to apply the four operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) to length. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

B1 - Today you will be learning to compare numbers. Watch this learning video clip first: https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/comparing-numbers-year-1-place-value-learning-video-clip/. You need to think carefully about the mathematical language and what that means e.g. larger, smaller, more than, less than. Remember, the crocodile mouth always eats the bigger number/value. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

PSHE

Today in PSHE you will be learning about exercise and the effects it has on your body.

Work through the PowerPoint with a grown up and complete the activities that are matched to the slides. You will need to think carefully about how your mind and body feels.
