Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Tuesday 24th March 2020

smiley yes Good Morning King-Smith Class! yes smiley

I am very pleased to tell you that we now have a class email set up. This will be useful if you would like to email me with some of the work you have completed during our time away from the classroom. You could also email me if you have any questions or worries about your work that I have set. To speak to me directly, please email me on: kingsmith@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk

I have updated our class page with this information -

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

It would help me greatly if you could send me an email with your child's name. This will allow me to reply, telling you which group your child is in for different subjects and give your child's login details for 'TimesTableRockstars' and 'SPaG.com' where we will be setting work for the children to complete. If your child is in Blue group, this would be essential as the group is usually split into 2 groups and the children complete different activities to one another - it is very important that your child is completing the correct activities.

I would really like to hear from you if there is anything I can do to help! It would also be lovely if you could send me image/document evidence of the work that you have completed. I would love to see what you have all been up to!

I wish you all well and I hope that we can be reunited in our classroom very soon!

Many thanks, Miss Sharpe

Reading

The Sheep Pig - Chapter 3

Read through this chapter with an adult and answer these questions. Be sure to ask an adult to clarify the meaning of any words you don’t understand.

1. Why did Fly growl at the puppy when it said ‘You wait…’ on page 19?

2. What lessons did Babe learn in the first hour of his tour around the farm?

3. Why did Farmer Hogget decide that he could not keep Babe in the crate, by himself, anymore?

4. What did Fly make her pups do daily before they were sold?

5. How do you think Fly felt as her puppies left to go and live on other farms?

Reciprocal Reading Pages

Maths

Red, Orange, Yellow and Green - Today you will start to learn about fractions.

In this activity, you will be learning to find unit and non-unit fractions. Remember that a fraction is equal parts/groups. So, if I bought a chocolate bar that was split into 2 squares and then I ate 1 square of it, I would have eaten ½ of the chocolate bar because half of 2 is 1. Similarly, if I had a pizza with 8 slices and I ate 2 of them, I would have eaten 2/8 (two eighths) of the pizza. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 2 - Today you will be learning to recognise equal groups. If groups are equal, there must be the same amount in each group. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 1 - Today you will be learning to count in 10's.

Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

History

Use the different secondary sources attached to answer these questions.

  1. Who went on the mission?
  2. When did they go?
  3. How did they get there?
  4. Where did they go in space?
  5. Why did they go?
  6. What did they do there?

Think carefully about the answers to these questions as they will help you form the introduction to your newspaper report on Apollo 11 on Friday.
