Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Good Morning!

It is Tremendous Tuesday!! Have a super day and I can't wait to read your lovely emails (kingmith@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk).

Stay Safe,

Reciprocal Reading

Today, we are going to read the rest of chapter 7 of Nim’s Island.

Your Task: Once you have read the pages, you are going to write a summary of what happened in the rest of this chapter. Remember that a summary is short and only contains 2 or 3 sentences which tell me about the key events that happened in these two pages.

Literacy:

Today, you are going to continue planning your own story which we started yesterday. Today’s part of the plan is to think of a problem that could cause something to go wrong in your story for the characters. Think carefully about what could go wrong on an island and use this idea to make notes of key words and any ideas you might need to jot down.

Below is a template of a story mountain to show you the planning process when writing a story.

Maths

Red, Orange, Yellow and Green: Today you will be learning to add and subtract capacities. Remember, there are 1000ml in 1l. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 2: Today you will begin learning to measure mass in grams (g). Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 1: Today you will be learning to add amounts together. You should be able to do this completely independently (an adult may need to read the questions for you). Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Art

As we have been learning about Nim’s Island, I thought it would be nice for you to have a go at drawing some insects, as there would be lots of interesting insects on an island.

Work through the PowerPoint with an adult and then have a go at drawing one of the insects featured in the pictures. If you have access to colours at home, you can add some colour to your sketch.
