Greenfield Primary School

Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Tuesday 21st April 2020

Good Morning!

I hope you are all well. I hope you all enjoyed beginning our learning about the Anglo-Saxons yesterday. I am very excited to learn more as the days and weeks go on, I hope you are too!

A big thank you to everyone who emailed me yesterday sharing work that had been completed. Cooper especially enjoyed reading your emails and he

even helped me reply to some of them too.

Please be sure to continue emailing him (and me) because we love hearing about what you have been up to and seeing all of your fantastic learning jobs that you are working hard to complete at home (kingsmith@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk)

Reciprocal Reading/Writing

Today, your reading/writing task is to find out about the author who wrote our new book, that we started thinking about yesterday.

The author is Eoin Colfer. I would like you to write a mini-biography all about the author. Remember, a biography is a detailed description of a person's life, with facts, background information and stories from their life. Please remember writing skills to include in your writing (paragraphs, capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and conjunctions: and, so, but, because, that, although, even though, however, as well as).

Below are some areas I would like you to find out about and put into paragraphs:

  • Early life and childhood -  birthdate, where they lived, upbringing, school life, homelife.

  • Adulthood - training, jobs, path to fame.

  • Later Life - getting older, retirement.

Maths

Red, Orange, Yellow and Green- Today you will be learning to find equivalent fractions. Remember the word equivalent means equal or the same. Follow this link (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/) to a video that should explain things clearly for you. Click ‘Week 2’ > ‘Lesson 5’ and watch the video. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 2 - Today you will be learning to multiply using the 10 times table. Make sure you count in 10’s to find the answer and remember the multiplication sign means ‘lots of’. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 1 - Today you will be learning to halve a quantity. When you halve a quantity it is the same as sharing into two groups - we have worked on this in class before. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Handwriting

Today you will be learning to space letters consistently. This means that there is even spacing between each letter. There should not be some letter joined closely and some more spread apart.

Attached is an example of how I have used a highlighter to help me form the letters, with ascenders and descenders properly, as you do not have your handwriting books with the different printed lines to help you.

You will need to follow the activities on the pages of the handwriting book. This will be best completed on lined paper, like you would find in a notebook, if possible.
