Year 2 Reading

Today we are going to carry on with our story Mountain Mona. I wonder what will happen today?

For your learning activity today, you will be using the text to fill in the gap. Again, you have to use your Ninja eyes to locate the sentence with the gap in the text, so you can accurately select the correct answer.

Year 1

Today we are going to practise our learning of comparing height and length.

Remember yesterday we learnt we have to line up the things we are measuring so we can be accurate when we compare the objects.

Look at these objects. They have all been lined up. Tell a grown up which is the longest? Which is the shortest? Are there any objects that are the same length?

Year 2

In your maths learning today you are going to learn how to count faces on a 3-D shape.

Can you remember any names of 3-D shapes without looking at the 3-D shape mat below?

Here is a reminder of some 3-D shapes and their names:

A cube has 6 faces because there are 6 flat surfaces on the shape.

A sphere has 1 curved face because there is just 1 curved surface that makes the shape!

Literacy

Last week we read Wolves by Emily Gravett.  In the book Rabbit borrows an information book about Wolves from the library.

This week we are going to find out about wolves and then write some information about them.

First, we will look at what rabbit found out from his information book. Remember these are facts so they are true. They have not been made up by the author.

Year 1 and 2: You are going to write some of these facts on a fact sheet.

You might want to keep pausing the story to write the facts down.

When you have done this, I would like you to label a wolf. This is another type of information writing. It tells the reader all about a wolf’s appearance and its features (what they look like)

Blue group: I would like you to label a wolf.

Geography

For your Geography learning this week and in the weeks to come we are going to learn about capital cities within the UK. This week we will be learning about London which is the capital city of England. It is located in the South-East of England.
