Greenfield Primary School

Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Good morning. I hope you are ready for another day of learning.

Remember to send me your work.

Let's warm up first.

Please watch today’s videos on RWI YouTube channel. They will show at 9.30am and will be available for 24 hours.

If you are in Miss Barnett’s group and Mrs Beech’s group you will need to watch the set 2 speed sounds, word time and spelling videos.

If you are in Miss Meakin’s group you will need to watch the set 3 speed sounds, word time and spelling videos. When you have completed this lesson, try the reading longer words lesson.

I have attached the link below. Just scroll down to find the videos you need.

Year 2 Reading

Today we are going to carry on with our story Mountain Mona. I wonder what will happen today?
You can read the text on the video or you can read it from your printed sheet.

Click on the video to start your reading learning with Miss Fawkes.

For your learning activity today, you will be using the text to fill in the gap. Again, you have to use your Ninja eyes to locate the sentence with the gap in the text, so you can accurately select the correct answer.

Year 1

Today we are going to practise our learning of comparing height and length.

Remember yesterday we learnt we have to line up the things we are measuring so we can be accurate when we compare the objects.

Look at these objects. They have all been lined up. Tell a grown up which is the longest? Which is the shortest? Are there any objects that are the same length?

Watch the video to continue your learning about comparing height and length. Have your activity sheet ready.

Year 2

In your maths learning today you are going to learn how to count faces on a 3-D shape.

Can you remember any names of 3-D shapes without looking at the 3-D shape mat below?

Here is a reminder of some 3-D shapes and their names:

A face is a flat or curved surface on a 3-D shape.
Look at this diagram to show you which part of a 3-D shape is a face.

A cube has 6 faces because there are 6 flat surfaces on the shape.

A sphere has 1 curved face because there is just 1 curved surface that makes the shape!

Use the interactive tools on the link below to practise counting the faces on a cube and a tetrahedron.

If you click the faces it will count them up for you! Click and drag the shape to find the sides you haven’t counted yet.

Watch the video on the link below to learn more about counting faces and join in with the activities when asked to:

Today’s learning is a little trickier – but try your best! J

I have included a document with some posters of different 3-D shapes and their properties so you can check your answers.

Last week we read Wolves by Emily Gravett.  In the book Rabbit borrows an information book about Wolves from the library.

This week we are going to find out about wolves and then write some information about them.

First, we will look at what rabbit found out from his information book. Remember these are facts so they are true. They have not been made up by the author.

Year 1 and 2: You are going to write some of these facts on a fact sheet.

You might want to keep pausing the story to write the facts down.

When you have done this, I would like you to label a wolf. This is another type of information writing. It tells the reader all about a wolf’s appearance and its features (what they look like)

Blue group: I would like you to label a wolf.

I have made a video to help you with this learning.

Keep your wolf facts safe. You will need them on Thursday.

For your Geography learning this week and in the weeks to come we are going to learn about capital cities within the UK. This week we will be learning about London which is the capital city of England. It is located in the South-East of England.

Have you ever visited London? If you have what do you remember seeing? The things you can remember are probably famous landmarks! Watch the video on the link below to find out about where London is located, how people travel around London and some of the famous landmarks.

Have a look at the power point below to find out some more information and to learn more about London.
Then complete your worksheet.

I hope you enjoy learning about our capital city!
