Zumba Kids (easy dance) - I like to move it

Phonics

Please watch today’s videos on RWI YouTube channel. They will show at 9.30am and will be available for 24 hours.

If you are in Miss Barnett’s group and Mrs Beech’s group you will need to watch the set 2 speed sounds, word time and spelling videos.

If you are in Miss Meakin’s group you will need to watch the set 3 speed sounds, word time and spelling videos. When you have completed this lesson, try the reading longer words lesson.

Year 2 Reading

For your reading learning today, you are going to be using the text to match information

You should read through the text about Pets in our house. You will know it quite well by now!

Skim through the text to find the key word you need to match, then read the sentence before checking the options for matching the word. You should then be able to choose the best match.

Maths

Year 1 and Blue group

Do you remember the shapes you learnt about yesterday? Can you remember their names?

Can you see anything in your house that is the shape of a cube?

Here's a reminder of the different 3D shapes and their names:

Today we will sort 3D shapes by what type of shape they are.

Look closely at the shapes.

You will have to work out which shapes are odd in a pattern too, this means the shape that does not match.

Year2

Today you are going to divide by 5. This means sharing an amount into groups of 5. Watch this video to remind yourself of how to count in multiples of 5.

The Counting by Fives Song | Counting Songs | Scratch Garden

You can watch it more than once if you still find counting in 5s a little tricky.

If we had the question 30 ÷ 5 we could count in 5s until we reach 30 to see how many 5s make 30:

5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 I counted 6 multiples of 5 before I reached 30 so 30 ÷ 5 =6

Watch the video below to learn more about how to divide by 5.

For your learning activity you will be thinking back to some of the learning we have already done. You will be making groups of 5 and drawing some arrays to show an amount.

Literacy

Over the next two weeks we are going to look at a new story. It is written by Janet and Allen Ahlberg. They have written many stories for children. The year 1 class is named after these authors.

Have you read any books by Janet and Allan Ahlberg?

This is the front cover of the book we will be looking at. Can you see the title and the names of the authors?

What is a cop? What is a robber? Tell your grown up.

Look at the front cover. Can you spot who are the cops and who are the robbers?

Do you remember what a blurb is?

Yes, it tells us a little bit about the story. It tries to grab our attention to make us read the book!  You find a blurb usually on the back cover of the book.

Here is the blurb for cops and robbers.

The robbers of London town plan a desperate crime on Christmas Eve - to steal all the toys they can lay their hands on! Fortunately, the robbers meet their match in brave Officer Pugh who leaps into action and arrests the villains - all except Grandma Swagg who manages to get away.

Year 1 and 2: Today you are going to answer questions just about this blurb.

I would also like you to tell me if you think you will enjoy this story just from reading the blurb and give me a reason for your opinion.

Blue group – I would like you to look at the robbers in this story. Look at this picture.

What can you see? What can you see in each room? What are the robbers doing? Today I want you to write sentences about what you can see. I have written the first sentence for you.

Geography

In our geography learning today we will be learning about climates! Watch the video clip below to find out the difference between the weather and the climate!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/geography-ks1--ks2-climate/zjdthbk

We need to know what polar, tropical and desert climates are and what each of these climates are like. Take a look at the videos below to see what you can find out. Look closely at what the land looks like and what is said about the temperature and rainfall in these different climates.

Polar climates:

BBC Geography - Cold Climates

Tropical climates:

Tropical Climates

Desert climates:

BBC Geography - Hot Climates

Now take a look at the power point below to help you learn even more!

For your main activity today you are going to answer some questions about what you have learnt. Click on your worksheet below.

The sheet called: labelled climate zone map will help you colour the climate zones if you are unsure, this is also in the power point too.

Blue group: You are going to colour a world map to show the different climate zones around the world.
