Greenfield Primary School

Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Tuesday

Reading

You will need some paper to record your written task and Chapter 3, this is also on the website.

Today, you will continue reading Chapter 3 of ‘The Iron Man’. Today’s reading pages are 29 (everybody) – 31 (pit)

(between the green stars).

Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The chapter is attached below.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Literacy

Spelling

Today you are going to practise some of your common exception word spellings. You are going to practise using the pyramid method, as this form of repetition will help you to remember the correct spelling.

Attached is an example of how to use the pyramid method to practise your spellings. The words you are going to practise are below, according to your group for writing.

Green/Yellow - different, experience, grammar, interest, knowledge

Orange/Red - sugar, any, bicycle, centre, disappear

The Year 3 and 4 common exception words are attached if you wish to carry on learning them. Children must be able to read and write them all by the end of Year 4.

Maths

Today, you are continuing to divide 2 digits by 1 digit. This skill must be embedded before moving on.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/497573248

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else you do not need to write anything down.

Green/Yellow- Start from question 4 and work your way through.

Orange/Red- Start from question 1 and work through to questions 4. You can carry on if you have finished.

RE

This week we are moving on to the next pillar of Islam, this one is called Salat and is all about Muslim prayer.

Using the lesson PowerPoint, introduce yourself to the ritual of prayer in Islam. Once you have read and discussed the PowerPoint, please design your own prayer mat, remembering not to draw people or animals.

Remember to add the word Salat to your next pillar of Islam from the sheet we used last week.
