Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Good morning.

Here is today’s learning.

I enjoy seeing all your learning and telling me all your news so don’t forget you can send me your learning on the class email or write just to say hello!

Here is another book for you to read from the book trust.

Year 1: This morning we have a maths warm up to get our brains working, try to complete this independently.

Today we are going to be learning about how to tell the time using o’clock. There are hands on a clock:

Let's Learn About the Clock | Fun Clock Song for Kids | Jack Hartmann

The small hand is the hour hand

The big hand is the minute hand

Some clocks have a second hand too, it moves quickly

Look at a clock in your house, can you name each hand? Today we are learning about o’clock. When the minute hand is on the 12, we say o’clock. The hour hand tells us what hour it is. Click on the worksheet to see if you can label the time.

Then click on the link to see if you can tell the time using o’clock.

Learn to Tell Time #1 | Telling the Time Practice for Children | What's the Time? | Fun Kids English

Blue group: Yesterday you ordered the days of the week today you are going to spell them. Don’t forget to practise the days of the week song by clicking on this link:

The 7 Days of the Week Song ♫ 7 Days of the Week ♫ Kids Songs by The Learning Station

Now look at the attached flash cards. Order the days of the week. Look at Monday, try to remember how it is spelt, turn it over and write the day on the worksheet, turn the card back over to see if you spelt it correctly.

Year 2: For your Maths learning today, you will be looking at tally charts again. However, you will be answering some reasoning problems today. You will have to look carefully at what the question is asking you and you need to explain some of your thinking.

Remember each tally mark is worth 1 and a group of tally marks is worth 5.
For your challenge today, you are going to create your own tally chart to show you understand how to draw a tally and complete a table.

Year 1 - Today we are going to look at air (that’s not fair) are (care and share) and ear. (ear is making the same sound as air and are. In these words, it is not making ear - hear you’re your ear sound)

Look at these words where does the air sound come in the word?

stair     chair

Look at these words where does the are sound come in the word?

share     care

Look at these words where does the ear sound come in the word?

bear     wear

Now have a go at this “air, are, ear” spelling game

Click on the link, find the egg hunt game and click on it. You need to click the single player link and then you can start the game.  You have to click on the eggs to spell the words from the list.

Now click on the document and practise your spelling.

I would like you to read the words then sort the words. When you have done that, I would like you to add the sound buttons to each word.

Year 2

This week we are going to be looking at a spelling rule for when we add the suffix ful and less.

A suffix is a letter, or group of letters, that is added to the end of a. root (base) word. A suffix changes the meaning of the root or base word.

The suffix -ful means full of so truthful means full of truth. Be careful though the suffix -ful only has one “l”.

The suffix -less means without so fearless means without fear.

Look at the power point to find out more about the suffix -ful and -less.

Now click on the document to practise your learning.

This week we are going to be looking at another famous woman who lived a long time ago.

So far, we have looked at:

Queen Victoria 1819 – 1901.

Grace Darling 1815 – 1842 (she received her bravery medal from Queen Victoria)

Now we are going to look at a woman called Emily Davison and see why she was significant. (important)

She was a member of a group called the suffragettes. Suffragettes were a group who wanted women to be able to vote at a time when the law (a set of rules) said only men could vote.

Watch the film all about Emily Davison to find out what she did to try and get women the vote.

After you have watched it, complete the fact file about her.

The quick story of the brave and brilliant suffragette Emily Davison
