Reading

For your reading learning today, I would like you to read a book, it can be fiction or non-fiction and complete a book review for it. I will attach a book review below to give you an idea of what to include. 

Maths: Red, Orange, Yellow and Green groups

For today’s learning you are putting all of your super 2D and 3D shape learning from last week and yesterday to the test!
 

Firstly, you need to read the clues for the 2D shapes and look at the pictures below, which shape fits the clue?
 

Next you will look at some 3D objects and sort them into the correct shape groups.

Maths: Blue group

Yesterday we learnt what ½ a shape looks like. Today we are going to be learning about ½ of an amount or a number.

To find ½ of set of objects we need to divide the set in to two equal groups. Watch the link below and then complete your worksheet.

Literacy: Red, Orange, Yellow and Green groups

This week we are going to be looking at a spelling rule for when we add the suffix ed and ing. Just like last week when we added the suffix er and est, we are looking at doubling the consonant at the end of a word before adding ing, and ed.

In short, one syllable words with a short vowel before a final consonant you have to double the final consonant.   (Vowels are a, e, i, o, u       Consonants are the other letters of the alphabet)

Clap is a one syllable word, a is a short vowel sound and there is the consonant p after it. So, to add ed: we write clap – double the consonant – add ed = clapped

Skip is a one syllable word, i is a short vowel sound and there is the consonant p after it. So, to add ing: we write skip – double the consonant – add ing = skipping

Now you can practise your spelling. Can you choose the words to fit in these letter shape boxes? Remember, only put one letter in each box. All the words double the final consonant before adding the suffix ed, ing, er and est. Look out for a word with the suffix y at the end!

Geography

In our last Geography lesson we learnt about Aboriginal people.
This week we are learning about the Great Barrier Reef!
Read through the power point to learn lots of interesting facts.

You have 2 choices for your activity today.
You can make a poster about recycling and trying to use less plastic and how this will protect the Great Barrier Reef OR you can create a leaflet about The Great Barrier Reef. I have attached a leaflet document to help you know how to set a leaflet out.
