Set 1 sounds at 9:30am or 12:30pm

Set 2 sounds at 10:00am or 1:00pm

They have updated these lessons to include word time for set 1 speed sounds and spelling for set 2 and 3. There is also “Storytime with Nick” three times a week and some poems that your child can learn and perform.

Literacy

Today we want you to use your story map to write sentences to retell what happened to some of the fruit in Handa’s basket? Pick a few of the animals and write sentences to describe what fruit it took.

For example ….. The monkey took the soft, yellow banana. Then the zebra took the round, juicy orange.

Does each sentence make sense? Have you used your Fred fingers to spell words? Have you used a capital letter to start each sentence? Have you got a full stop at the end of each sentence?

Don’t forget to make sure the letters you write are clear. Have you remembered your finger spaces between each word? Our aim is that everyone can read our fabulous writing so make sure it’s readable.

Maths

Good morning children, let's get our maths brains warmed up by using a 100 number square on your phone, laptop, or you can print it out. Point to each number and count as far as you can go.

This week in maths we are learning about doubling. Attached is a sheet for your children to complete using doubling. Remind them the doubling is 'twice as many'. Get the children to count how many spots are on one half of the ladybird using careful counting. Then ask them to double it by putting the same amount in the other half as we are getting twice as many. Always remind your child to careful count and now see how many there are altogether, they can record the answer in numerals underneath. Always remind the children to use the language 'double __ is __'.

Challenge- below is some doubling challenge cards if you would like to use them.

Lets finish off our maths lesson by using our 100 number square. Give the children a number and ask them to find it on the number square, recognising numbers to 20 is an important skill for children to learn in recepetion but challenging them to recognising other numbers will prepare them for next academic year.

Topic

This week we will be looking at 'Handa's Surprise'. Today we would like you to create a fruit collage. You can collect any materials such as paper, newspaper, tissue paper, magazines or any material available for your art work today. Use scissors or your hands to rip the materials up. Are you going to use the correct colours for your collage? If so what colour will each fruit be? Below are some examples of what it may look like.
