Tuesday 19th January

Below you will find all the learning for today. This includes reading, writing, maths and a foundation subject (Science, Geography, History, R.E, Computing, art or Design Technology). The coloured activities should be completed if your child is in that group in class. All reading texts and worksheets can be found at the bottom of the page, some reading texts will be posted Monday for use all week.

Reading - Today we are going to look at the same part of the story of Macbeth but written in the style of a graphic novel. You will be looking at pictures 5,6 & 7

Predict - Which parts of the text from yesterday will be included in the pictures?

Clarify - To clarify these words you will need to think about how they are written in the sentences. They are words that would have been used in Shakesperian time but what words would we use today?

Question -

  1. What new title does Macbeth receive?
  2. Find and copy a phrase (clue - look at the small pictures around the edge) which shows surprise that Macbeth becomes Thane of Cawdor so soon.

Writing - Shakespeare: Macbeth - Spelling: Soft and hard C

The lesson today is found here. Building on the work from last week, where you learnt about the sounds and the rules for them. Today you are going to use those rules and have a go at spelling words using the correct rule. Last week's lesson can be found here if you want a reminder. Such as:

  • hard c sound (kuh): cat, cup
  • When c meets a, o, or u, its sound is hard.
  • cap, cave, colt, comedy, curly, cuddle

  • soft c sound (suh): cell, city
  • When c or g meets e, i, or y, its sound is soft.
  • census, center, circle, citizen, cycle, cymbal

Green and Yellow - Complete the spelling activity in the lesson.

Orange and Red - Complete the spelling activity in the lesson.

Blue - Complete the spelling activity in the lesson.

Maths - Division: Multiplying and Dividing by 6

In today's lesson found here, you will be using multiplication facts and linking them to division facts. From any multiplication fact you can create 2 other maths sentences. For example:

3 x 5 = 15 so 5 x 3 = 15. Then in reverse or the INVERSE as we call it you can make two division problems. 15 divided by 3 is 5 and 15 divided by 5 is 3.

You can also use the introduction sheet below to recap some more of this learning before or after you try to do your work.

Green and Yellow - Complete the CS divide by 6 sheet for g_y.

Orange and Red - Complete the CS divide by 6 sheet for o_r.

Blue - Complete the WRM divide by 6 sheet.
