Reciprocal Reading 

Today, we are going to read chapter 5 of Nim’s Island. 

Your Task: 

Once you have read the pages, you are going to answer some questions about this chapter. Remember, your questions must be answered in full sentences, in your best cursive handwriting and using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

Q1 - Who is Chica? 

Q2 - Why do you think that Nim would much rather see Jack’s sails than to reply to Alex Rover? 

Q3 - Why did Chica dig a hole in the sand with her flippers? 

Q4 - Why was Chica the only turtle to ever swim back to the beach where she was hatched? 

Q5 - How was everyone feeling the morning after Chica arrived at Turtle Beach? Why were they feeling that way? 

Literacy: 

This week, I would like you to use what we have read about Nim so far  (you could read back through previous pages to help you, if needed) and you are going to collect words to describe Nim’s behaviour (how she behaves, what is she like as a person, what are her personality traits, etc). We will be using these words to write a character description of Nim tomorrow. 

Maths 

Red, Orange, Yellow and Green: Today you will be learning to add and subtract mass. Remember, there are 1000g in 1kg. You will need to use the part-whole model and bar model. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 2: Today you will begin learning about hours and days. Remember, there are 60 minutes in 1 hour and 24 hours in 1 day. Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

Blue 1: Today you will be recapping number bonds within 10, as you must be able to do these fluently in your head. You should be able to do this completely independently (an adult may need to read the questions for you). Attached is a PowerPoint to work through with an adult so that you understand the methods for working out the answers. Once you have worked through the PowerPoint, you must have a go at answering the questions independently (ask an adult for help if you get stuck).

PSHE 

Today you will be learning all about what makes a healthy, balanced diet. There are different types of food that make up a balanced diet. 

First, work through the PowerPoint with a grown up and then complete the activity sheet.
