Thursday 8th July 2021

Reciprocal Reading

Today, you will be reading pages 61-66 of Fantastic Mr Fox. Your written task is to use a dictionary to clarify the meanings of some of the vocabulary from the pages. If you do not have access to a dictionary, use this online version: https://www.dictionary.com/ . The chapter is attached below.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)

  • Read the pages

  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know

  • Answer the questions

  • Summarise

Writing

This week, we have been preparing to write our own story for how Mr and Mrs Fox met and fell in love. Attached is a picture of our class S Plan for our version of the story. Yesterday, ROYG groups practised punctuating some speech that they could use within their writing and B group worked with Mr Powell planning out their Colourful Semantics cards to support writing. Unfortunately, this planning can't be with you due to it being in your books but you can use what you have learnt within today's tasks.

Over today and tomorrow, I would like you to complete your Big Write of our story of Mr and Mrs Fox. Today, I would like you to orally retell your grown up the version of the story that we have planned together using the S Plan. Then, you can write paragraphs 1 and 2 of the story. Be sure to send in a picture to our class email so that I can check your work so far before you continue writing tomorrow.

Maths

ROY - Today, you are going to be learning about turns and angles.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/549180654

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Green - Today, you are going to be learning to recognise and compare angles.

Here are the link to two videos that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class:

https://vimeo.com/555158617

https://vimeo.com/555215683

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheets. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Blue - This week, you have spent time recapping the part-whole model. In which the whole is the biggest number (the total) and the parts make the whole. Today, you have bar models that can also be represented using a part whole model. Your task is to write down the answers in the form of a part whole model and find out the missing numbers. Your sheet is attached below. You only need to complete page 1.

RE

This week you are going to be looking at the story of the Prodigal Son, especially thinking about forgiveness. First head to this link and watch the video: https://ministry-to-children.com/prodigal-son-for-kids/#google_vignette

Discuss the story with a grown up. Did you see an example of forgiveness? Have you ever done something that you wanted forgiveness for? Have you ever forgiven someone?

Your task is to draw a picture to represent the story and the message behind it.

Music

This week, your music lesson is going to be accessed via Oak Academy. You will be learning about rhythm. We would usually used instruments to tap the rhythm but at home you could use your hands to clap the beat.
