Writing - The Highwayman

Today I do not want everyone to watch all of the video - check your group's instructions before you begin the lesson.

In this lesson we will use our plans to help us write the opening of The Highwayman as a narrative.

Green and Yellow - I would like you to watch the warm up section of the writing video only. Once you have done this I would like you to use your plans from yesterday to write four paragraphs about the poem setting, this will be one each for the sky, the moor, the trees and the highwayman.

Orange and Red -  I would like you to work through the teaching video, you will need your plan from yesterday and with the teacher's help you will also write four paragraphs about each of the settings, each paragraphs should have at least three sentences and remember your adverbial openers.

Blue - I would like you to work through the teaching video, you will need your plan from yesterday and with the teacher's help you will also write four paragraphs about each of the settings, each paragraphs should have at least two sentences, one of them should have an your adverbial openers.

Orange and Red - Your end of the week of fractions is a final look at equivalent fractions. Different values that mean the same thing. How well can you do? Use the sheet below and the video here to complete your learning.

Foundation - Design Technology: Session 2

Origami Paper Box

Today we are trying to make and decorate this:

There are a few steps to this we need to be careful of. The boxes can not be made to the same size. Otherwise they do not slot together properly without crushing one of them slightly. So we need to make 2 boxes very close in size.

This is how:

  • So you make one square the full size. As you did the previous day.
  • You make a second square but trim the two sides shown in red in part B. This means you end up with the smaller red square shown in part C.
  • This way the two boxes should fit into/over one another and make a lid that can easily be removed.

Once you have made your boxes you can decorate them as you see fit. You can stick things too them and try boxes of different sizes. They also are a good way to make boxes for small gifts for people.

Please email your teacher a picture of what you have made.
