Literacy

Today we are going to find out some facts and information to help us with our writing tomorrow. Read through some of the information about the animals and then choose one animal to make notes about. Remember this is a day for making notes so using key words or phrases is more important.

(Remember we want your child to use their sounds to spell so not all words will be spelt right!). Don’t forget the checklist we use in class when writing. Have you used your Fred fingers to spell words? Have you got finger spaces between your words? Are your letters well formed? If you notice a letter is the wrong way you could practice that to! Each sentence should start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

Maths

Lets start off our maths with ordering numbers to 20 independently. It is good to keep revisiting areas of learning. This can be done using the game below.

This week we are going to learn about sharing and halving. Yesterday the children learnt to share between 3 equal groups with even and odd numbers so that it is 'fair' or 'not fair'. Today you are going to work with your child to complete the sheet attached-'bugs'. Make sure there is lots of communication during this activity explaining what to do so that tomorrow the children should be able to complete one on their own.

Lets finish off our maths lesson by using our number lines we have made for the children to find out one more and one less of any number given.

Topic

Sticking with our animal theme, watch some or all of the videos attached. Pick one of your favourite and create a collage of the animal. Use any materials you have around the house. You could paint, collage or create a 3D model.
