Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Thursday 2nd July

Right guys, it’s Thursday and for a bit of fun today we have the Ghostbusters theme tune, choose a character and keep up… who you gonna call??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYgIVc5Jvjg

For today’s learning we have…

RWI

Remember to practise your sounds daily. RWI will be holding daily virtual lessons for children to practise their sounds:

Set 1 sounds at 9:30am

Set 2 sounds at 10:00am

Set 3 sounds at 10:30am

They have updated these lessons to include word time for set 1 speed sounds and spelling for set 2 and 3.

There is also “Storytime with Nick” three times a week (Mon, Wed & Fri at 2pm) and some poems that your child can learn and perform.

SPaG

Today we are going to play a game, we have got Picnic on Pluto for you to feed the two alien’s Obb and Bob. Obb eats nonsense words and Bob eats real words. Read each word carefully using your Fred talk and feed it to the right alien. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/PicnicOnPluto.html

Literacy

Yesterday we read My Shadow by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Today we are going to look at the well-known story The Lion and The Mouse. It is an Aesop’s Fable. A fable is a short story that has a moral: a lesson we can learn. Shadow puppets have been used to retell the story.

Did you enjoy the story being told with shadow puppets?

Now watch the story retold again. This time colourful illustrations are used to tell the story.

Which one did you prefer? (twinkl power point)

Now that you have watched the story, I would like you to write captions retelling the story for each picture.

Remember you can use: capital letters to start a sentence or for names and places, full stop at the end of a sentence, commas for a list, question marks (?) and exclamation marks (!)

Maths

This morning we have a maths warm up to get our brains working, try to complete this independently.

G/Y/R/O groups:

Today we are going to be recapping our learning of o’clock and half past. Watch this clip to remind yourself of the hands and then click on the worksheet, look carefully if you are telling the time using o’clock or half past.

Remember to practise your times tables with Times Tables Rock Stars.

Blue group:

Today we are going to be ordering the months of the year. Watch and join in with this song first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7MLULT2wxQ

Then click on the worksheet and order the months of the year, use the colours to help you. What do you think the colours are for?

RE

Last week we learnt about important words we need to say. This week we are continuing to learn about Islam. Read through the power point. Can you find any important words that Muslim people say to one another during their special festival?

Also, here is a link to some videos you can watch to show you how Muslim people celebrate their special festival: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/puzzles/lets-celebrate-eid
Your task today is to show how Eid-al-Fitr is celebrated. If you read carefully through the power point it will tell you some ways.

PSHE

We are going to continue our learning on emotions this week, but looking more closely at the thoughts we have based on how we feel.

Sometimes we say and do things that make people think happy, positive things, but sometimes we say things that can make people feel a bit sad and think bad things.

Take a look at the different scenario cards below. What do you think these people will be thinking?
It is important to think before we speak. How are our words going to make someone else feel?

We have completed some thought cards like these before and you had some super ideas, so I am expecting some super learning today!
