Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Thursday 28th January

It's Thoughtful Thursday!

Hello Reception! It's Thoughtful Thursday so let's start today with some good thinking. Can you tell your grownup how you are feeling today? Can you use a fantastic descriptive word?

Shall we have a look at what you got up to yesterday:

Please drop us an email to carle@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk - we love to see pictures of your fantastic learning!

Get Moving!

Today we thought that we'd wake ourselves up with some Koo Koo Kangaroo. This dance is all about Milkshakes!

If you would like to wake yourselves up with a different activity, have a look at our PE page for ideas.

RML:

Remember that your Set 1 phonics lessons will go live at 9:30am today. Access them at this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

Can you think of a word that ends with one of the sounds that you've looked at this week?

Literacy:

I loved seeing the different meals you found out about! Well done for being super researchers! Today you are designers! This means you are going to create something that you think others would like. Today I want you to either pick a meal you like that uses green beans or you can create your own. Draw it either on a blank piece of paper or on the worksheet attached. When you have drawn your meal I would like you to label each thing that is on the plate, remember to use those Fred fingers! Mine would look like this:

Maths:

For our maths today we are going to learn a brand-new word! The word is…

‘pairs’

Have you heard of this word before? Do you know what it means? Have a watch of today's video to find out more: https://greenfield-primary-school.primarysite.media/

For your activity today we would like you to go and collect some natural objects from your garden/area around you. Once you’ve found enough, lay them on the ground in front of you. Now, your job is to sort them into pairs.

Just to check you’ve remembered, tell your grownup what a pair is.

Once you’ve sorted your objects, have a think about the following questions:

  • Do you have any objects leftover, that aren’t in pairs?
  • Why have you put each pair together?

Extra challenge:

Can you think of any groups of objects that always come in pairs?

Music:

For our music lesson today, we are going to listen to a piece of music called ‘Winter’. It is by a very famous composer called Vivaldi and was created over 300 years ago.

Whilst listening to the music, we would like you to draw/paint a picture of whatever comes to mind. Once the music has ended, can you tell your grownup about why you’ve drawn what you have? Did the music influence your drawing?

We’d also like you to have a to have a think about the following questions:

  • How did the music make you feel?
  • What types of sounds could you hear (e.g. loud, quiet)?
  • Can you talk about any of the instruments used?

Remember to let us know how you got on today, and we'll see you tomorrow for Fabulous Friday
