Hello King-Smith class,
I hope you are enjoying your home learning so far this week. This message is just a little reminder that I am hosting a class Zoom meeting for us tomorrow so we can play some games and catch up with our friends.
Please ask the grown ups at home to check their emails and ensure they have downloaded the Zoom app if you would like to join us.
I am looking forward to seeing some of you there.
Miss Brown
Reciprocal Reading
Today, you will begin reading Chapter 4 of ‘The Iron Man’. Today’s reading pages are 43-45 (cities and the towns.).
Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The chapter is attached below.
Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:
Literacy
Today, you are going to be planning your own newspaper report. When planning, you must consider the features you learnt about and identified yesterday.
You are going to plan your newspaper report 1 section at a time.
Blue - You must plan your newspaper name, headline, opening paragraph (who, what, when, where, why), main body (bullet points), and draw a picture with a caption that you will be able to put into your report.
ROY - You must plan your newspaper name, headline, opening paragraph (who, what, when, where, why) and draw a picture with a caption that you will be able to put into your report. For your main body, I would like you to come up with a bank of some direct speech that could be included, some past tense adverbials and some third person pronouns.
Green - You must plan your newspaper name, headline, opening paragraph (who, what, when, where, why) and draw a picture with a caption that you will be able to put into your report. For your main body, I would like you to come up with a bank of some direct speech that could be included, some past tense adverbials, some formal reporting language and some third person pronouns.
Take a look at an example of the newspaper report I wrote and magpie some ideas for your plan.
Maths
Green - Today, you are recapping previous learning to answer correspondence problems.
Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/498265698
After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.
Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else, you do not need to write anything down.
ROY - Today, you are going to learn to multiply a 2 digit and 1 digit number, with exchanging.
Before you begin, follow this link to this activity: https://vimeo.com/489849543

Design and Technology
Today we are going to begin a DT project that will continue into our next lesson in a couple of weeks’ time.
The focus of this DT project is to look at recycling plastic and its uses. We have already learnt lots about recycling and how we can reduce plastic waste, so now it is time to put that knowledge into practise.
Read through the PowerPoint to get some background information.
Your task is explained in detail on the PowerPoint. You will be designing a product using recycled plastic. We have designed items/objects before in DT, so you should know what you are doing in this context.
