Reciprocal Reading
Today, we are going to be continuing with our new book, ‘The Borrowers’ by Mary Norton. Today, you will be reading pages 12-16 (Which only statuary can give.)
Work through the Reading PowerPoint and follow along with the teacher recording (https://greenfield-primary-school.primarysite.media/playlist/wc-22221-king-smith-class-videos). You will need to complete today’s written task. The text is attached below.
Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:
Literacy
Today in Literacy, we are going to focus on generating vocabulary for our character description.
Today’s lesson will get us ready to write our character description tomorrow.
Below is the link I would like you to follow to the lesson.
Remember to pause the video when asked to complete the activities set.
Choose 2 characters from the story that you would like to write about tomorrow. Remember to think about their appearance and their personality.
BRAIN BREAK
Now you are half way through today's learning, it is time for a brain break. Follow this link to a Kidz Bop dance along video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JPVKD_UT-Q
Maths
Green - Today, we are going to learn to subtract 2 fractions.
Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/507527822
After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.
Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else, you do not need to write anything down.
ROY - Today, you will be learning about non-unit fractions. A non-unit fraction is when the numerator (top number of the fraction) is more than 1. e.g. ⅔ ¾ etc.
This is recapped learning so try and think back to what you covered when learning about fractions in year 2. Have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.
Blue - Today, you are going to be learning to order numbers to 100. When we order numbers, we think about their value and size and we may order the numbers so they get smaller or bigger.
This video that we used on Tuesday will teach you everything you need to know when ordering numbers to 100: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMMn55AWk20
Once you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.
Design and Technology
This week in DT, you are going to be creating your recyclable item that you designed before half term.
Follow your design and measurements to create your product and then email me a picture that I can feature on our class webpage.
When you have finished, think about these questions:
