Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Thursday 21st May

Thursday

Morning Carle Class. It’s thoughtful Thursday today. Why don’t you do something nice for someone in your house today? Tell your mum how brilliant they are or give your dad a hug. Don’t forget to think about all the people helping us through this strange time. Have you been clapping for our carers every Thursday at 8?

RWI

Remember to practise your sounds daily. RWI will be holding daily virtual lessons for children to practise their sounds:

Set 1 sounds at 9:30am or 12:30pm

Set 2 sounds at 10:00am or 1:00pm

They have updated these lessons to include word time for set 1 speed sounds and spelling for set 2 and 3. There is also “Storytime with Nick” three times a week and some poems that your child can learn and perform.

Literacy

Today we want to play a game! Play the game ‘I went to the shop’ with some of your family. Each person playing says a fruit or other food item they bought from the shops and the next person has to add another item to the list and say what the previous people bought too!

For example;

Mrs Evans: I went to the shop and got a spikey pineapple.

Miss Pegler: I went to the shop and got a spikey pineapple and a juicy orange.

After write a list of the items you listed in your game. Encourage children to sound out the words they want to add to the list. Children could also write word cards to label their artwork or creative projects.

Have you used your Fred fingers to spell words? Are your letters well formed? Is your writing clear and readable?

Maths

Good morning children, let's get our maths brains warmed up by using a 100 number square on your phone, laptop, or you can print it out. Point to each number and count as far as you can go.

Today we have some interactive games ti play online to help us learn our doubles. The first game- Top Marks-Maths Fishing

https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/306/Maths-Fishing-Multiplication

Please choose the first choice in the game- recalling doubles to 10- you can use cubes or drawings to help you with your doubles or maybe you know some of them off by heart.

The second game is Top Marks-Hit the button.

Again please focus on the doubles activity but feel free to use the other games on this website to help with learning as they are lots of fun for the children and they use them in class. These types of games are good for mental maths and it helps the children to learn to recall their doubles without always working them out.

Lets finish off our maths lesson by using our 100 number square. Give the children a number and ask them to find it on the number square, recognising numbers to 20 is an important skill for children to learn in recepetion but challenging them to recognising other numbers will prepare them for next academic year.

Topic

Lets make some music today! We would love to see your videos. Below is a simple way to make a rain stick to create some music. The food inside can be recycled or can even be beads if you do not wish to use rice. I have also attached some other ways to make easy musical instruments.
