Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Thursday 21st January 2021

Hi Reception!

It's Thoughtful Thursday, so let's start with some good thinking. Can you tell your grownup something that you have learnt this week? We hope you can!

Let's have a look at some of the fantastic work that we were sent yesterday:

Here is our class email if you would like to send us some pictures of your learning: carle@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk

Get Moving!

Today, we thought that you might like to warm yourself up with a Just Dance routine - have a try and let us know how you got on:

If you would like to do another fun activity instead, have a look on our PE page!

RML:

Remember to have a look at today's RML learning! It's in the usual place: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

Which sound did you look at today? What rhyme do you use to remember how to write it? Can you say it out loud to your grownup?

Literacy:

This week you have learnt lots about planting and growing. Today we are looking at plants that have started to grow.

For today's task you need to label parts of a plant. You can draw your own or use the sheet attached.

What are the main parts of the plant? Have you labelled it? Have you used your sounds to write your labels? Are your letters nice and clear?

Don't forget to send us any writing to carle@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk

Maths:

If your child is not yet confident with numbers up to five, please go to this page: https://www.greenfield.walsall.sch.uk/numbers-to-5/

Can you remember what yesterday’s number was? It was number 6! Today we are going to look at the number that comes after 6, which is the number…

7

It’s 7!

Let’s introduce our newest Numberblock to help us:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08pgqt4/numberblocks-series-2-seven

To find out even more about the number 7, have a look at today's maths video: https://greenfield-primary-school.primarysite.media/

For your first activity today, I would like you to have a look at the document below (no need to print it off if you aren’t able to – you can do it just by looking). It’s an I Spy sheet, and it wants us to look for everything that shows the number 7. Can you have a try?

For your second activity today we would like you to create a rainbow. It’s going to be a very special rainbow though – it’s going to be full of 7s! We would like you to go on a hunt around your house. Can you find:

  • 7 red objects
  • 7 orange objects
  • 7 yellow objects
  • 7 green objects
  • 7 blue objects
  • 7 purple objects
  • 7 pink objects

Remember to count carefully to check that you’ve got the right amounts!

Extra Challenge

Can you count backwards from 7 to 0?

Topic:

On Thursday, he dug and raked and sprayed and hoed it…

On Thursday, Jasper spent a lot of time looking after the garden, using some tools. We are going to make our own garden today… but we are going to use some different tools to Jasper. We are going to make an edible garden, and we are going to make it using the tools that we eat with. Can you remember what they are called?

Knives, forks and spoons!

We would like you to use your best knife and fork skills to cut up different items for your garden. Make sure you’re holding them correctly!

We’ve put some ideas of what you could use to make your garden below, but feel free to use anything that you have at home:

Soil – Rice

Rocks & stones - Bread

Seeds – Cereal (e.g. Coco Pops, Rice Krispies)

Flowers – Colourful fruits and vegetables

Please send us your edible creations, we are so excited to see what you’ve come up with! Remember, our email is: carle@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk
