Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Thursday

Good morning Troughton Class! smiley

Thank you to all of you who are sending your learning to me on our class email address. It is great to see the learning you are doing at home and I have been SO IMPRESSED with your fantastic learning! Keep up the good work and enjoy your learning today.

Phonics

Miss Sharpe's group - Just like yesterday I would like to join in with the live phonics lesson streaming on youtube at 9:30am (remember if you miss it - don't worry! It will be on the youtube channel for 24hrs)
You are learning set 3 sounds so make sure this is the one that you watch. You should also watch the spelling video to match the sound which you are learning today.
It's really important to keep practising your sounds.

Here's the link:

Reading

Today you are still using the 'Pets in our Home' text. For today's reading lesson you can skim read through the text to remind you of the information inside the text. Your reading learning today is to answer multiple choice questions.

Skim through the text to find the part the question is asking you about, then select the correct answer from the choices.

The song today is the Dance and Freeze song, as lots of people said they enjoyed it!

Maths: Red, Orange, Yellow and Green groups

Now that you have an understanding of how to divide I thought it would be a good idea to see if you could apply your knowledge and use it for questions written in different ways.

You will have to look really closely at all of your questions, as some of them have mistakes in, that you need to identify.

Here are the video links for counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to help you as you will need to count in multiples to complete your learning.

Look carefully to see if you are dividing by 2, 5 or 10.

Maths: Blue group

Today we are going to be looking more closely at 2D shapes and sorting shapes.

To start off you are going to answer some questions about 2D shapes.

Next you will sort some shapes into 2D or 3D.

After that you will write the names of the shapes and how many sides and corners the shapes have.

Watch this video to complete your warm-up and see your learning: https://vimeo.com/476289396

Writing

Did you enjoy the story yesterday? I have included the story so you can watch it again today.

There is so much to see in the pictures. Can you spot anything new today?

Are you ready to make your poster today?

We have looked at posters before. Can you remember? We made a poster to find a real princess for the prince in the story of the Princess and the Pea.

Let’s remind ourselves what a poster is. Watch this clip to find out. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zdtsxbk/articles/z4knnrd

So today we are making a poster to try and catch the robbers. You will need to include lots of information and a picture that gets everybody’s attention.

You collected most of the information you need on your fact file.

Your poster must include

  • a picture of the burglar
  • sentences to describe the burglar

Your sentences will need to tell the reader what the burglar looks like

Your sentences will need to tell the reader what they did and where they were last seen.

  • If a person sees the burglar what should they do?  Is there a pretend address or a pretend phone number on the poster?

Here is an example of a Wanted poster.

I have used this example to start my poster to catch Grabber Dan:

Have you seen this man?

His name is Grabber Dan and he is 37 years old.

He is wanted for stealing from many people. He has stolen lunch from a small baby and even things from a tall kangaroo!

Look carefully – Did you notice I started my poster with a question? Perhaps you could include a question on your poster today. I also remembered to use capital letters for the robber’s name.

I have attached a poster for you to use or you can make your own.

I can’t wait to see them!

Christianity - The lost sheep.

This week we are learning about the story of the lost sheep. Jesus tells this story to show that the God loves everyone.

He uses the example of a shepherd (God) who has 100 sheep and one goes missing.

The shepherd leaves the 99 others and searches high and low for the lost sheep.

Jesus explains that when the shepherd finds the lost sheep he is very happy. First watch the story:

Today I want you to make a sliding lost sheep like we do in DT.

  1. Cut out the objects on the card.
  2. Cut down the black lines on the green pieces of grass.
  3. Stick the light green grass on the front of the dark green grass and add the flower to the front.
  4. Colour and stick the sheep on the top of your stick.
  5. Add the brown strip to the back but only glue or cello-tape the sides so the stick can slide in the middle.
  6. Push the stick up and down to make the sheep hide and pop up.

I can’t wait to see your hiding sheep!

PSHE

We have been learning about goals over the past few weeks.

We have thought about what goals we have and how we can achieve them.

We have thought about things that we find tricky to do and how we can think more positively to help us overcome these difficulties.

Today we are going to learn how we learn from our experiences. An experience is something we do, or something that happens to us.

In life we have lots of different experiences, there are sometimes a few negative ones but usually lots more positive ones! J

Have a look through the power point and think about and answer the questions as you go along.

Then you are going to think about your own life experiences and what you have learnt from them!
