Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Thursday

Good morning Troughton Class! smiley

I hope you are feeling happy and ready for another day of learning. You are doing so well and I am super proud of you all.

Phonics

Miss Sharpe's group - Just like yesterday I would like to join in with the live phonics lesson streaming on youtube at 9:30am (remember if you miss it - don't worry! It will be on the youtube channel for 24hrs)
You are learning set 3 sounds so make sure this is the one that you watch. You should also watch the spelling video to match the sound which you are learning today.
It's really important to keep practising your sounds.

Here's the link:

Reading

Today you are still using the 'Planting Seeds' text. For today's reading lesson you can skim read through the text to remind you of the information inside the text. Your reading learning today is to answer multiple choice questions.

Skim through the text to find the part the question is asking you about, then select the correct answer from the choices.

Banana, Banana, Meatball today! Don't shout too loudly if your grown-ups are working from home!

Maths: Red, Orange, Yellow and Green groups

Yesterday you learnt how to make equal groups by sharing. Today you are learning how to make equal groups by grouping. When we make equal groups by grouping we know how many are in each group but not how many groups there are altogether. We start with the total amount and share them into groups of an amount.

If there is a picture with the total we can sometimes circles the groups of an amount and see how many groups it made altogether.

Watch the video in the link below to learn how to make equal groups by grouping:

Once again, remember you can use some items you have at home to practically work out the answers if you need to.

Maths: Blue group

For today’s learning you may need to use some objects to help you. Find some things at home you can use to count with: coins/little toys/pasta pieces

Then you can make the number sentences and physically take amount away if you need to!
You could also draw out the amounts as small circles in a group.

I’m sure you are feeling pretty confident counting back from 20 now, but just in case… here’s the counting back from 20 video again!

Was it super easy today? Did you say them all correctly?

Now it’s time to learn another way to subtract an amount wen crossing tens.

Writing

Today we are going to look at rhyming words. Rhyming words have the same sound but not always the same letters.

Watch the video to find out all about rhyming words. After the video scroll down because there are two activities to see if you can find rhyming words.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zjhhvcw/articles/zqjgrdm

See if you can match rhyming words. Open up the rhyming words activity and have a go.

Now you are going to think of a rhyming word so you can write your own poem.

Click on the activity to get started.

I'm looking forward to reading what you come up with! smiley

R.E

Christianity - The wise man and the foolish man,

This week we are learning about a story of two men. One man built his house on a rock, the other man built his house on top of sand. When it rained what do you think happened? The man who built his house on a rock was called wise, wise means that he was clever and thought things through. The man who built his house on the sand was called foolish, why do you think he was foolish?

Today I have two tasks for you to do:

Task 1 is a song: I want you to watch and join in with the song about the wise man and the foolish man here: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/media/video/2017-01-110-the-wise-man-and-the-foolish-man?lang=eng

Task 2 is an experiment: I want you to make 2 houses out of lego, sticks, duplo, play-dough, whatever you have at home that is waterproof. Take them outside and put one house on top of a rock and the other on sand if you have it, if not use soil. You could put them in your bath or in a tray if you don’t have a garden. Use the watering can or hose to pour water over the top. What happens? What would you use to build your house on top of? I can’t wait to see what it looks like.

PSHE

For our PSHE learning today we are going to be thinking about how to overcome difficulties.

When we want to do something in our life there can be things that make it tricky for us to reach our goals.

Today’s learning is about trying to think more positively about what we can do when facing difficulties.

Look through the power point and answer the questions. Then you will complete a worksheet identifying something you find difficult and thinking of things you CAN do to make this easier for you.
