Imagine, Believe, Succeed

Thursday

Reading

Today, you will continue reading Chapter 3 of ‘The Iron Man’. Today’s reading pages are 32 (The Iron Man) – 34 (between the yellow stars).

Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The chapter is attached below.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Literacy

Today, you are going to plan your letter to the farmers. You are writing your letter as if you are Iron Man. You will be referring back to the text remembering what you, as the Iron Man, has done to the farmers. Think about what reason the Iron Man might have to write to the farmers? What did he do to them/their belongings? Is he sorry for this?

Remember to include the features of a letter that you learnt about yesterday. Think carefully about how you would have felt if you were the Iron Man, explaining why you ate the iron and what you could do to make it right.

Don’t forget you are the Iron Man, therefore you are writing in first person using I.

Today, you will need to think of a date for your letter and then make notes on what emotions and events you can write about in each paragraph. Make sure you follow the structure of yesterday’s letter.

The first paragraph should include the reason that you are writing to the farmers. What have you done to them? What is the purpose of the letter?

The second paragraph should suggest something you are going to do about eating all of the farmer’s machinery. How can the problem be fixed? Why did you do it?

The third paragraph should conclude your letter and ask them for their forgiveness.

I have attached a letter planning template for you to follow. Remember this is a plan so it does not have to be your neatest work, it is a note making activity to help you tomorrow.

Maths

Today, you are going to continue to divide 2 digits by 1 digit.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class:

https://vimeo.com/497936690

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet.

Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else you do not need to write anything down.

Green/Yellow- Start from question 4 and work your way through like we do in reading.

Orange- Start from question 1 and work through to 4.

Red- Start from question 1 and work through to questions 3.

You can continue with the questions once you have completed the set questions if you wish to.

Geography

Today we are learning about transportation in cities.

You will be learning about different transports that are used in cities and pollution that may be caused by them.

Work through the PowerPoint and complete the discussion task. These are questions you can answer or discuss with an adult. You do not need to write these down.

Then, there is a slide that explains your tasks according to your group.
