Good morning Troughton class!

I hope you are all smiling this morning. smiley Another day of learning is here!

For reading toady here is a link to an online story called 'Open Very Carefully' I hope you enjoy it. I did!

Maths: Red, Orange, Yellow and Green groups

Today you will be finding fractions of amounts. First of all, take a look at the Power Point to refresh your memory of how to find a fraction of an amount.

You need to count the total amount, then say what 1/2, 1/4 or 3/4 of the amount is. Make sure you check what the question is asking. You can still use coins, pasta, toys… anything you have at home to help you share the amount into halves or quarters to help you find the answer.

Maths: Blue group

Your learning for today is all about your left and right. Understanding how to describe if something is on the left or right. This will help you when giving directions to someone.

Put your learning to the test by saying which way the animal is facing, left or right?

Literacy: All groups

Today we are going to look at a different poem called On Monday.

Today I would like you to read and perform the poem aloud to a grown up. You might want to send me a video of you performing the poem too!

Did you notice the names begin with the same letter e.g. Jenny Jar, Simon Stoat?

When you have read the poem, I would like you to find pairs of rhyming words in the poem and write them down.

Here is a clue: There are 7 pairs of rhyming words.

Can you see a pattern to the pairs of words that rhyme?

R.E

In our last R.E lesson we learnt about leaders. In the Isamic religion, there is a special leader called Prophet Muhammad. He is such a special leader that he has nearly 2 billion followers who respect him. More than 1400 years ago he taught all Muslim people how to follow God. He is so special that when Muslims talk about him, when they say his name they say ‘Peace be upon him’. And when they write his name they put the letters ‘PBUH’ after his name.

Watch this video which has two stories about the Prophet Muhammad. Whilst you are watching try and think about how he shows good leadership!

Now you have watched the video clip, think about and answer these two questions. You can write your answers down or tell a grown up what you think.

How is Prophet Muhammad a good leader?

What does he teach the people who follow him?

PSHE

Today we are going to learn about why sleep is important and different ways to rest and relax.

Watch this video about Rodd's bad day to learn about how sleep can affect your memory. If you have these items you can join in the games, for the first game:scissors, a pencil sharpener, rubber, apple and a lunchbox. For the second - scissors, a watch, a water bottle, pencil and sock.

After you have watched this video click the worksheet below it has some things to think about and 2 questions to answer.

You will also see some yoga cards that help with relaxation. Try one of these before bed if you like! Let me know if they help you relax and get to sleep more easily.
