Dear Parents and Carers,
RETURNING TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY 8th March
Further to the recent phone conversation you hopefully will have had with your class teacher, I am writing to clarify what will be happening from the 8th March. Staggered start and finish times will resume. Please see the table below for your children’s class times. Please also note the entrance/exit doors. Dahl classroom has changed, so Dahl class children now need to use a different entrance/exit at a different time. Parents and Carers should now be wearing masks on the school playground please.

A one way system will be in operation on the playground – you need to come onto the main playground via the main entrance footpath, and leave via the main driveway. The side entrance onto the main playground will not be open on the 8th due to the issues raised by parents with too many parents using the footpath both ways with it being narrow. We will review this after Easter. Please ONLY come onto the main playground at the time you have been allocated. We will not let children out onto the playground without an adult to collect them, so you do not need to be on the playground in advance of their release time. Parents must stay back from entrances please. Parents will not be allowed into the school building except in the case of an emergency. Non-essential visitors will also not be permitted at the moment. If you need an appointment with a member of staff, we can do this by telephone wherever possible.
The procedures for washing hands and keeping children in one class separate from the other classes will still apply as before this most recent lockdown. Staff will now be wearing visors in the classrooms or masks around the school. Our current risk assessment is available on our website.
Your child will need to wear uniform and no jewellery should be worn – as before the lockdown. Your child will need an outdoor PE kit and can wear this on the day of their PE lesson. PE will be the last lesson of the day. This will initially be KS2 only (year 3 up), and KS1 will be undertaking a mile walk and other outdoor activities every day. This will be reviewed at Easter. Cowell PE is Monday, King- Smith Tuesday, Lewis Wednesday, Dahl Thursday and Morpurgo Friday.
School dinners will be available and MUST be ordered in advance on a Monday morning, whether you pay for meals or not – as before. Lunches will still be taken in the children’s own classrooms. Toast will be available to buy for snack and one day a week bagels will be available as well. No other snack will be available to buy. If you send a snack to school for playtime, it MUST be a healthy snack. Children will NOT be allowed to eat crisps and chocolate at playtime. We are hoping to move to a cashless online booking and payment system shortly. We will write to you when this is up and running in school.
Our Before and After School Club will reopen on the 8th, however we do not have our full staff available at the moment, so we only have a limited number of places available and so will only be accepting children who already use the club regularly – you will have been contacted by phone. You must book in advance and unfortunately we cannot guarantee a place – you must check with the club that a place is available before you bring your child.
Children are expected to return to school on the 8th unless you have a shielding letter from the NHS or you are self isolating/unwell. Our universal home learning provision will cease to be provided from the 8th with the exception of those children who are shielding or self isolating.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ring and chat to one of the staff.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on the 8th March.
Yours sincerely
Mrs C Lee
Headteacher
