Literacy

This week we are reading the story ‘Mr Gumpy’s Outing’. You can find it here … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi_DV_DWN8M

Who is Mr Gumpy? Where does he go? What does he travel in? What happens to his journey? How would you feel if you were Mr Gumpy?

Today we are drawing a story map to retell each part of the story. Don’t forget to label each drawing.

Don’t forget to make sure the letters you write are clear. Have you remembered your finger spaces between each word? Our aim is that everyone can read our fabulous writing so make sure it’s readable.

Maths

This week in maths we would like you to start off by singing out 3D shape song, watch and join in if you can.

This week in maths we are learning about subtraction. Start off by getting any objects you like, we would like you to model this first. Count out loud how many objects you have to start with and remind yourself to careful count. Say out loud I am going to takeaway 4 or a number of your choice, and remove 4 objects, 1,2,3,4. Now count out loud to say how many objects you have left. Model this once more but ask for your child’s help. Now ask your child to do this without any help. Remind them to use the language take away. For example- Sarah can you get me 6 cubes, remember to careful count them. How many do you have altogether? Now takeaway 3, remember to count. How many do you have left? Repeat this practical activity as much as you like, you can even use food, toys, money.

Let’s finish off maths by playing paint the square, use the number square appropriate for your child and call out a number and colour for example, colour in 12 using red. This will help with children’s number recognition.
