Reciprocal Reading

Today, you will begin reading a different type of text. I won’t say too much, as I would like you to predict what you think this text is.

Work through the Reading PowerPoint and complete today’s written task. The text is attached below according to your group.

Here is the order we usually follow in class for Reciprocal Reading:

  • Predict (sensible guess)
  • Read the pages
  • Clarify the meaning of words you didn’t know
  • Answer the questions
  • Summarise

Grammar

Green – Today in SPaG, you are learning about past and past perfect verbs.

Verbs can be used to describe an action, that’s doing something. For example, the word ‘jumping’ in this sentence is a verb:

The rabbit was jumping in the field.

Past tense verbs are describing an action that has already happened.

Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.

ROY - Today in SPaG, you are learning about adverbs.

Adverbs (adjectives for verbs) are words that tell us more about how, where and when an action (verb) takes place. Verbs often end in the suffix ‘ly’.

Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.

B2 - Today in SPaG, you are learning about different types of sentences: exclamations, questions and statements.

Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.

B1 - Today in SPaG, you are learning about doing words - verbs.

Please watch the short clip below of me explaining today’s learning. I have also attached a copy of the questions to work through.

Maths

Green - Today, you are continuing to learn to divide.

Here is the link to a video that will teach you everything you need to know for this lesson, just as I would teach you in class: https://vimeo.com/497992648

After you have watched the video, have a go at answering the questions on the attached worksheet. Afterwards, you can mark your answers and ask a grown up to go through any mistakes you made that you don’t know how to correct.

Attached is a true or false for you to answer. Work through it and explain your answers. This is just a discussion to have with somebody else, you do not need to write anything down.

ROY - Today, you are going to learn to compare statements. A statement is like a number sentence or calculation and when we compare, we use <, > and =.

Science

Today in Science, we will be learning about how sound is caused when an object vibrates.

Your learning for today will be on the website linked below. https://www.developingexperts.com/

You will have your own personal log in, which I have emailed to you. Please use this log in to access your work. Our school name is ‘Greenfield Primary’. Once you have completed it, I am able to see what you have been up to so do not worry about sending me in pictures for Science.

If you have not contacted me yet on email, here is our class email address.

kingsmith@greenfield.walsall.sch.uk

By the end of the lesson I would like you to be able to:

Green: Explain how sounds might be changed.

ROY: Describe how some sounds are made.

Blue: Identify and describe different types of sound.
